He's really good, I wonder what it's gonna take to finally keep some of these Oregon HS studs in state.

Some winning and some coaches that care about keeping the good in-state players here, although I don't think we keep players like him, Kyle Singler, or Kevin Love since they are bound for big-time programs.

^agreed, It would take a special kid to turn down Duke, Kentucky, & UCLA

Winning a lot and sending a large number of kids to the NBA.

Much like in football, you aren't going to see many kids choose Illinois over Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas, etc.

The facilities definitely help though. Oklahoma St. is a program that has really benefited (in terms of recruiting) from having great facilities.

It happens in other States all the time.

You think Harrison Barnes ever gave any consideration to Iowa and ISU?

Luke Rid did(said UK had the band out for him when he visited), and so did Aaron Brooks. In fact a lot more turn them down then you want to believe.

Now that I think about it Leunan and Taylor both turned down UCLA and Hariston turned down most every school in America.

UCLA was awful when Leunen chose Oregon over the Bruins. Rid wanted to stay relatively close to home, and both Washington schools were terrible at the time. Ernie coached AB on his U-18 team and had a leg up on everybody else. He also promised a starting gig.

But no, not "everybody" chooses the elite schools, but I think it's a safe bet to say the majority do. Sometimes location and early playing time become issues.

Go look at the top 20 recruits over the last 5 years..... and tell me how many of them stayed in their in state program over a top 10 program.

2-3 a year?

Your the one with the argument that they don't, you look it up. Besides your argument was UK, UCLA and Duke. I know for a fact UW has 3-4 instate guys that could have went most anywhere.

In other news, Jones is going to be one of the top 2 picks in the draft. Blazers need to trade every asset they have in order to get up that high.

They won't, mind you. But that's the dream.

Top 2? No.

He isn't going ahead of Harrison Barnes or Kyrie Irving. There's no guarantee that he'll even be a top 5 pick. He'll most likely be a top 10 pick.

If those guys come out at all. I don't think the Blazers are going to have to get up that high, but I do think they are going to need another scoring option with B.Roy being injured so much.
