Arthur Sr. said his son,
17, was surprised to go on the Internet and read the reports saying UM was pulling its offer.
IMO, it's most likely another power struggle between a kid too young to sign without parental approval, and all of his family, advisers, and mentor's ad nauseum... That little detail may be a huge pain for a few college coaches and fans.

Any BB stalkers out there happen to know when he turns 18? What if is in March just before he announces.

Not to be a 'stalker' but according to wikipedia, his birthday is May 14, 1991.

What are you talking about? When you're 18 your legally an adult and can sign a contract. If you're under 18 it has to be signed by a parent or legal guardian...

He's signing a LOI, not going to a bar

... Loi's are contracts that can be signed by an 18 year old, without parental approval.

I guess the key point here is that in March he will still be 17. So all of us who love to see the circus will get one fewer dramatic twist. Too bad.

you have to think of this, when brown done with fasting and already made decision, if he said god's telling me to go oregon and that's where im going. His parents will not say well too bad, you are going to miami cuz god told me or whatever. His parents will support him because they believe in god too, and will respect Brown choice.
So im saying that, whatver school bryce brown pick after fasting, he will go there. If his parents refuse to sign LOI if he choose other school, not miami, imo that's selfish and unchristian like.

Wrong, per the NCAA an official LOI has to be signed by the parent until the kid is 21.

I stand corrected... However, since this is true, it blows the excuse of "The parents made me do it!" for kids under 18 completely out of the water, don't you think? For guys like Tommy Streeter, the big-time receiver Oregon whiffed on last year (Signed with Miami), it apparently would have made no difference had they been a year older.
It really doesn't seem to be much of a problem for most 18+ year old prospects.

I think it could go both ways. Kids want to make their parents happy with their choice. But, I'm sure that most parents aren't as overbearing as sports fans tend to assume. Nobody wants to feel like they are over-riding the choice that will make their kid happy.

That might be true but we also all know what happened with the Tajh Boyd situation. I still think he is going to Miami because that is where his dad wants him to. it wont matter what Brown truly wants.

For those who are curmudgeons, here's a link to the NCAA website FAQ that states that a signee must be 21+ without a parental/guardian signature.

Wounded - I didn't post the link to rub it in your face, I just appreciate it when people cite their source when they make an authoritative statement, that's all.
