A couple of points....

Post by wvduck34 »

Have had some things on my mind lately, and after the Idaho game, that clinched it:

We still need to recruit a couple of big men this year (good post shooters too) or we are continue
to get killed for the foreseeable future.

We haven't heard too much on the recruiting front lately. About the only names we've heard are DeAndre Daniels and possibly Shawn (sp?) Williams, a transfer from Texas. Both guys really wouldn't help the post situation since they are both wings.

I am not doubting Altman's record or coaching ability, but irregardless, a Pac-10 coach has to be able to recruit
the players he needs. Even Kent could do that.

He's done very well so far. The guy hasn't even been here for a full year yet. A lot of this roster has EK's fingerprints on it. Altman will get his bigs, and they will actually be coached up. It just takes time to put it together.

This should be a season of growth for players we do have on the roster.

Ok Altman was thrown at the wolves once he got
here. He had to even hold tryouts to get enough
players to fill the roster. And he's left with a team
minus shooters and bigs. Let's give the guy a chance.
He has already in a short time brought in for next year
a top 15 class. I'm impressed with his style of play and
how hard these kids play. The effort is there. With in Altman's
offense they have open shots. Yes Oregon actually has an
offense. They work hard on the Defensive side.
Altman with what he was left with deserves time and support.
This wasn't gonna change overnight. If all of a sudden they
learn how to shoot the wins will come. They do have some talent.
They all so need Armstead to start to play better. His shooting is off,
his passing is really suffering. Does not look like he wants to be here to me.

Given the effort on offense and the way these kids play defense, all it will take is for the team to move a few percentage points up on the shooting scale. 40% last night would have won this game, as well as the Missouri game, easily.

Tantalizingly close, eh?

Too bad the rats left the "sinking ship" before they checked for location of the bilge pump... 2-3 of those guys pumping out the level of effort the remaining players are showing would have been fun.

Go Ducks! Keep your heads up, and know you are in on the start of something special!
