Heard on the 5:00 news that he is one of 2 coaches being considered for the job. That would be a good hire for them.

Bellotti has already stated he won't get back into coaching this year. Also I don't think he would take a Pac-10 job.

I don't think he would take a Pac 10 North job. UCLA would be very intriguing and I think seeing him what, 4 times a decade? wouldn't be that bad.

Mike is a pretty laid back guy when its come to recruiting. Westwood would be perfect for him.

You think he owes us not taking a job in the Pac-12? You'd consider that "a slap in the face?"

He doesn't owe us anything. But I would much rather him coach outside of the conference.

I doubt it, given his family situation. He got out of coaching relatively young for a reason.

He owes nothing to Oregon. If anything, Oregon owes him for establishing success as a part of the program, and for gracefully exiting in order to ensure the university retained Chip Kelly (though obviously they already compensated him nicely for doing nothing as AD except firing Kent.)

He would be a great get for Stanford, but like others I don't want him coaching in the pac 12 as he could build a great program wherever he goes.

Well, one thing that we can't deny for the SEC is the parity they have. Even with the old Big 12 having a championship game, we didn't see that much parity as it was mostly OU and UT taking the championship every year. Personally, I would almost prefer MB to go to the P12 South since it's not like he's going to go East really.

I'm hearing now that they're going hard after Chris Petersen of Boise State. I just read it somewhere, but didn't get the link. Sorry. It basically said that they're very interested in Petersen and that their current offensive and defensive coordinators were also candidates.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if Petersen EVER leaves Boise State. No, he's not making $4 million per year, but he's said time and again that the quality of life in Boise makes him and his family very happy. Also, he's seen other former Boise State coaches leave for bigger jobs and have mixed results.

Dirk Koetter was an average coach at Arizona State, but has been a very good offensive coordinator in Jacksonville.

Dan Hawkins, well, how should I put it, SUCKED at Colorado. Honestly, that surprised me. I think he'll land on his feet again somewhere, but he may have to work his way back up again.

Houston Nutt is a very good coach. He's done well everywhere he's coached and I expect him to rebuild Mississippi in the next 1-2 years too.

It would be a hard choice, for me anyway. It comes down to a few things like:

How much money do you really need?

How much of an effect would it have on the family?

Does he have a competitive personality that longs for a bigger challenge?

Now that this has happened to the Mountain West, will Petersen become tired of having undefeated seasons or one loss seasons and not getting a shot at a BCS Bowl?

Actually, that last question could be HUGE because when Boise State jumped to the Mountain West Conference they thought they'd be playing TCU every year and that it would increase the likelihood of it becoming a BCS conference. Now that TCU is going to the Big East and BYU is going independent in football that may change everything.

You just never know. Stanford may or may not be the best opportunity for him, but he may get the itch before long. Other than an occasional BCS berth, like TCU got by default this year (they wouldn't have been there if Oregon wasn't going to the natty), it just seems like he's taken the Broncos as far as he can under the current system. It's not fair, but it's the way it is right now.
