Joevan made the 2nd Team all-conference team, but I think he should have been on the first team ahead of some of the players who got on it, like Jeremy Green or Tyler Honeycutt.

I totally think Jeremy Green deserves a nod, but both Honeycutt and Lee at UCLA are astonishing reaches. Both are Bruin whipping boys, much like this website and Garrett Sim. They can do no right. Catron absolutely deserved a first team selection.

Catron got screwed. He is easily the best overall PF in he Pac-10.

I actually feel like Honeycutt and Catron deserved the nods.
While Green did score more points than Honeycutt and Catron this year, which is a fair reason for him making the all pac-10 team, he contributed very little elsewhere. Catron and Honeycutt doubled his his assist/to ratio despite being forwards. Catron and Honeycutt both doubled his rebounding total. And probably above all else, Green plays atrocious defense. Catron's defense isn't great either, but he does get some steals. And the main reason I'd vouch for Honeycutt is because of his all around game and his stifling defense. 1spg and 2bpg is incredible.
All are deserving tbh. But I do understand the Honeycutt love unfortunately.

Additionally, Catron played noticeably less minutes than both Green and Honeycutt. He would have had the most impressive stats had he played their minutes IMO. That could have made the difference in him missing out on first team.

Solid points all around, I guess my point was built around taking Catron and Honeycutt (or Lee) and directly comparing them with each other. Honeycutt is UCLA's 4th option and can't shoot a lick, typically getting his offense on junk possessions. If coaches took into consideration his defense, it would seem (to me) they would also take into consideration that Catron put up pretty astounding numbers being the ONLY option. I don't think a coaching staff typically sits down and asks, "What are we going to do to contain Tyler Honeycutt?" whereas that's pretty much the only conversation they have with Oregon and Catron. But, to winning teams go the spoils.

I'm surprised the coaches didn't vote Catron in due to his importance to the team's success and his overall offensive game being more well-rounded than Honeycutt. Honeycutt does beat Catron defensively, but not to the extent that it places him that far above Catron.
