89 Centers

Top 5:

David Robinson - A-C- C- A- A- A

Lt. jg. David Robinson, the Admiral, once in a generation. One of the most complete and powerful players to come out since the Dream or Moses himself. The two time Naismith award winner spent a year after the naval the academy serving his country and, it has not hurt him one bit. He can finish inside, he will block shots, he can lock down the post and rebound very well. If there were some knocks on him: he doesn't move laterally particularly well, nor does he take care of the ball from time to time. Give him a year and he will challenge the Dream for the DPOY. Scouts are torn, some think he can grow into one of the best ever, others think he only has a little left in him. Either way he will be really good.

Arvydas Sabonis - C+ B C+ B- C+ A

The man in the middle of great Soviet squad the defeated the USA last summer in Seoul South Korea. The Lithuanian SSR product towers over the competition at 7' 3". His famous flair might make him one of the greatest passing big man the league has ever seen. He is a beast on the offensive glass and will finish it when he drags it down. He has great hands on the timing of both the block and the steal. The man may be 25, but scouts believe that he has every room to grow into his huge frame.

J. R. Reid - C+ C- C- C+ C+ B

The North Carolina prospect it a little of everything, unfortunately he doesn't stand out in any one thing. He is decent at rebounding, decent at finishing, and has a passable shot 15 feet and in. He has some room to grow into his frame. Some scouts are concerned his size may limit his growth in the league.

Travis Cousy - C+ C- D+ C+ C+ B

Oregon State has been having amazing success for the past 4 years and Cousy has been a big part of it. He is probably the strongest player in college basketball. He moves really well defending the post and does a good job ripping down the boards as he simply out muscles his opposition. He has a good jump shot and with his strength he is an acceptable finisher.

Adrian Caldwell - C+ C- D+ B+ B- C

One of the best defenders not named Robinson in this class. Despite his lack of size, he is wonderful at positioning on the defensive boards and has the strength to keep the pesty rebounder's hands off of the ball. As a shot blocker, he is probably the best shot blocker in the class. In other fascets of his game, he is still a little raw.

Other center prospects:

Gary Leonard - C+ D- F+ B+ C+ C

Decent strength and will block a shot or two. Terrible free throw shooter. Average potential.

Russell Hardaway - C C- C- C+ C+ C

Good at holding onto the basketball, decent on both offensive and defensive boards. OK potential.

Adrian Caldwell - C+ D F+ B- C+ B

Decent inside finisher. Very strong and excellent defensive rebounder. Decent potential.

Timothy Postell - C+ C- D C- C+ A

Very raw. Poor Free throw shooter. Excellent potential.

Doug Roth - C D D B+ C+ C

Good strength and decent shot blocking. Good positional defender and decent at holding onto the ball. Ok potential.
