90 Shooting Guards

Post by Zyme »

Top 5 SGs:

Dennis Scott C+ B+ C C+ D- B

Yellow Jacket stud. Averaged 27/7 during the season that only got better during during the tournament. With Andersen and Oliver at his side, Georgia Tech powered their way through the tournament and one it all in decisive fashion. High volume scorer that can get streaky, both good and bad. Some nights he will put up 40, the next 5/30. Scouts like his defense, despite his scoring talents he played hard on both sides of the ball. At the combine, he stood out as, far and away, the best SG in this class, torching players (save George) from the outside with ease. Scouts think he has a really good frame to build on, and is more of a G/F than a true tall SG. At either position, scouts agree he has plenty of room to grow.

Tate George C B+ C B D B

Dominatd anyone not named Scott at the combine. He has a very clean release that works well at both the mid range and from deep. His lack of strength seems to force him to the outside more than many scouts would like. Very good set of handling skills for a guard. Scouts think he probably should stay at SG, but should he develop should prove to be a very solid option indeed.

Kendall Gill B+ C B- C+ C B

Lead Illinois to a tourney berth and then with a horrid game to a 1st round exit against Dayton. Extremely polished inside game, and willing to take on any opponent. Has a great guard skillset, but may turn the ball over a little too much and not really good enough to play point guard at the NBA level. Not top level potential but should thrive as a 6th man, borderline starter on an inside focused team.

Steve Bardo C+ C+ C+ C+ D A

Very balanced talent. Unusually good at blocking shots from the SG position and has very quick hand at stripping the ball when the opponent pump-fakes. Wowed scouts during the combine with his monster throwdowns. Excellent potential.

Lance Blanks C+ C+ D+ C D+ A

Does a little of everything, master of none. Showed flashes but never exploded during college. Very touted prospect for, not what he is, but what he can be. Scouts beleive that he absoutly oozes potential and if he gets into the right system, he could be something special.

Other Shooting Guard Prospects:

Kennard Winchester C+ B C- C C- B

One of the better shooters in the class, scouts are mostly worried that he may be playing near his max already.

Skeeter Henry C B D+ C D+ A

Plays very similar to Lance Blanks but with a better jump shot. Scout dont think he has quite as much potential and Lance however.

Dave Jamerson B- C+ C+ C C- B

Really physically gifted player. He was to top of any of the guards in the bench press or vertical test at this year's combine. Played the passing lanes very well duirng his time at Ohio.

Brian Oliver B- C C C D- B

Solid, if unspectacular. Not great jumping and only decent potential.

Michael Curry B- C+ C C D C

Really good looking jumper and good anticiaption on defense. Loves to play above the rim.
