Potential RB coach hire
Looks like a frontrunner for the Oregon RB coach spot has emerged in ASU WR coach and passing game coordinator Ra'Shaad Samples. He'd previously been a RB coach at SMU and with the LA Rams before joining Dilly in Tempe.

He's a big time recruiter. I believe his father was the head football coach at Texas HSFB powerhouse Duncanville.

This would appear to be an upgrade.

I'd say Dilly congratulating him also makes it quite official.

One benefit of hiring Samples is his dad is the HC at Duncanville HS in TX, which is where 5* 2025 WR recruit Dakorien Moore goes to school.

Re: Potential RB coach hire
Elite recruiting + a year in the NFL sounds like a good combo. I am curious how anyone can evaluate his player development since he's never been somewhere more than one or two years.

Just a matter of time before Oregon officially announces it since Samples has responded to Dilly's tweet and changed his Twitter bio.
Edit: Oregon officially has hired him

Seems like an upgrade, and a possible OC in waiting situation

I love watching Lanning learn on the job. As much as it stings to lose good position coaches, especially when they get poached by schools we want to believe are our peers, we get a chance to see Lanning’s vision evolving. He’s recognizing good coaches don’t usually stick around so he’s queuing up a list of personalities that fit his mold. Lock was no slouch, but it took zero time to bring in a coach that feels like an upgrade.
It also feels like we have both an OC and a DC in waiting now.
Love this guy.

Lanning seems to really take self-scouting to heart.

Not even sure he’s really DC in waiting. He schemed a lot of the D last year.
