90 Centers

Post by Zyme »

Top 5:

Vlade Divac B- C C B- B- A

The anchor for the very strong Yugoslavian national squad. To put it mildly, Divac is strong like bull. He forces his way into the post and works hard to get the ball as it comes off the rim. Though he isn't the most polished in the post, he works hard on said misses. He is really good at defending in the post, very pesky at ripping away pump fakes but may struggle somewhat when he is put into rotation. Won the Euroleague alongside Toni Kukoc this year at KK Partisan after finishing in the semis last year. Scouts were left wanting as he chose not to attend the combine but most are convinced he is set anchor the post for any team for the next decade or more.

Derek Strong C+ D+ D+ C+ C+ A

Lives up to his name in a big way. The Xavier prospect may be a tad on the small side but his skill and strength overcomes this shortcoming. He moves well defending the post and doesn't gamble much, leading to few fouls. Does a good job on the defensive boards and secures the ball very well. Scouts believe he has a very good head on his shoulders and the workman's ethic needed to stick around in this league

Stojko Vrankovic B- D+ F+ C+ C+ A

Not a lot is known about the Yugoslavian center. He was the 1st alternate for the national team and looks to try his hand in the NBA. He is a little older at 26 but looked very solid in his combine workout. A polished finisher inside but maybe a little of a black hole down there. On defense he gambles a more than he should as he tends to get pushed around a bit down low but does end up blocking his fair share of balls. Scouts didn't get that much of a look at him outside his combine but scouts agree he has a great frame (at every bit 7"2', 265) to build on.

Jayson Williams C+ C C C+ C+ A

The St. John's prospect has one of the well rounded games in this class. He is a decent enough inside with a jump shot that surprises many given his size. Does a great job kicking the ball out to shooters from the post. Scouts raved about his lithe frame, and blew scouts away with his combination of strength and athleticism.

Antonio Davis B- C- D+ C+ B- B

One of the most polished rebounders in this class. Heralding from the Don Haskins style of basketball, the UTEP prospects never backs down from a challenger. He works hard in the post and has the legs to find many opportunities above the rim despite being only 6"9'. His size, however, limits the leverage he can apply on defense. Very polished rebounder and boxes out with the best of them.

Other Center Prospects:

Miloš Babić C+ C- F+ C+ C+ A

Herralding from Serbia, Babić attended Tennessee Tech. Tall and lanky, he is very good at holding his own in the post. Very good when put into rotation on defense. Solid potential.

Steve Scheffler C+ C D- C C+ A

Decent post defender that rarely gamble for blocks but looks lost when put into rotation. Scouts are torn. Good finisher but did not move well enough to be graded out highly.

Felton Spencer C+ C D C+ C+ B

Spencer has the best looking jump shot of this post/center class. The rest of his game is still a work in progress but has a great base to work around.

Dwayne Schintzius C F F+ C+ C+ B

Dwayne is easily the most intimidating presence in this class. Seeing that mullet rising for the block leaves many with nightmares.

Duane Causwell C+ C- D C C+ A

Well rounded game. Will fill a box score with a little of everything. Decent potential

Not looking to draft one of these guys, but it seems like there's a lot of solid depth.
