2002 SGs

Post by Zyme »

Dwyane Wade B- C+ C- C+ C A

The guard out of Marquette is one of those guys that do not come around often. He is an extremely complete player that can destroy teams from inside and out. He surprised many to come out as only a Sophomore but nobody (well those that do not win the lottery might) will complain. Top shelf pot.

Jay Williams C+ C+ C- C+ C- A

He may have played a lot of point guard for Duke, but it is clear that he does not have the smarts to play point at the NBA level. He has one of the best deep balls in the class and his potential is second to none. As long as he stays away from motorcycles and telephone poles he should have a long career ahead of him...

Kareem Rush C B C- C D+ A

Easily the best sniper in this class. He has outstanding frame for his positions and archetypal skills. He has had well documented issues at the line but his post game and finishing is very far along. Not a good defender but very good shuttle time put up at the combine. Might struggle with turnovers.

Mike Dunleavy C C+ C C+ C- A

One of the horseman that made up the Duke championship side. He has very balanced defensive skillset but does struggle with fouls due to his lack of quickness. Solid deep ball but it does look a little flat at times. This said it is not been too much of an issue. Not the top potential in this class but he is right up there.

Matt Barnes C+ C C- C+ C- A

Barnes is on of your classic jack of all trades, master of none. He can do a little of everything and could even play the stretch 4 if you really needed a man there. Probably best as a rotation guy. Average potential.

Other Shooting Guards

Rasual Butler C B- D+ C C- C

Outside specialist.

Ronald Murray B D+ C+ C C- C

Outstanding slasher wing and at handling the ball. Probably stayed in college too long.

Josh Davis C B- D+ C- C A

In the gym range, no finishing in any way.

Tommy Adams C+ C C+ C C- B

Athletic freak who is strong and lives above the rim, his technicals are quite weak.

Juan Carlos Navarro C+ C+ C C+ C- B

High technicals player out of Spain. La Bomba has a great deep ball and great finishing. His defensive prowace is founded in his great quickness. Below-average potential.

Although it's not explicitly stated, it does say he played PG in college, so I'd assume so.

"it is clear that he does not have the smarts to play point at the NBA level."

This makes me think not.

I interpreted that as he doesn't have the skills to play point at the NBA level, meaning a GM probably doesn't want to play on playing him there. Not necessarily that he isn't PG eligible.

bradbuss, whether he is not eligible at PG, or whether his PG skills are terrible, it's very unlikely that he'll ever see minutes starting at PG.

No he is not. Not elligable for point. He is listed at SG and not at Point for a reason.
