He was at the game saturday so this definitely bodes well for us. Usually when a kid takes a visit then a few days later says he's made his decision, its in favor of the team he just visited. We'll see.

Let's hope that Jon Loyd has been recruiting him. With Jakarr Sampson, Maurice Harkless and Dwayne Polee already in the mix, I'm not sure where Garrett would see playing time. Lavin is an excellent recruiter though (despite being a very mediocre coach). It is possible that Lavin is telling Garrett that he could play SG.

Garrett is a must get recruit for Altman.

Yup...

Lavin is a great recruiter if he can sell a West Coast kid on St. John's. Before Lavin, most West Coast kids would have never have given St. John's a second thought and would have even preferred Wazzu. Queens sucks, but Lavin is obviously doing a great job of selling the NYC spotlight.

Edit: Just read that he went on an unofficial to St. John's, but he's never been to Oregon. He's definitely headed to Queens.

Lavin probably did tell him he could play either SF or SG. Seems odd that all these talented SF/SG would all go to the same school in the same year, but it's definitely not out of the realm of possibility. With Garrett more than likely off the board, it makes getting a talented wing like Jabari Brown a must for Altman.

Would be nice but I think Altman probably wants another post player, although Garrett may be serviceable as a SF/PF in Altman's offense.
