Re: Oregon #2
As much as we arent happy about the style points from our win last night, all that needs to happen is getting W's. If we win out, which is just as possible as anyone else in the country, we will be going to the NC game. If we lose a game, we will probably still go to the Rose Bowl. If we were having this season 10 years ago, not a single person would be talking about how we didn't impress last night, just that we were winning

#2 in the AP as well: http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings, with 15 first-place votes. Actually a little more of a margin in votes over BSU than I was fearing, in both polls. Now, will the Ducks be in some way "penalized" for their bye week if other teams impress this coming week? . . . And the week after, if the Ducks impress on Thu. night on ESPN, will that be forgotten by the time voters vote Sunday morning? . . . Am I paranoid? . . .

God I hate the polls. Alabama loses by two freaking touchdowns, yet is still ranked four spots ahead of the team that beat them!!! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!?!?!?!?!

They deserve it. Their only two losses are to Top 5 teams and just beat a team that was ranked #9.duckgrad99 wrote:Greenblood wrote:#2 in the AP as well: http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings, with 15 first-place votes. Ohio State is as good a candidate for #1 as anybody, but they've yet to play a single ranked opponent now that Miami has plummeted out of the polls.

I know this will be a minority position, but I don't think that just because Team A loses loses to Team B they have to be ranked lower. To exaggerate my point, if we lost to Wazzu yesterday, we would still be ranked above them (I know it's apples and oranges). The other factors that must come into play besides head to head are total record (obviously) and whether A lost to B at home or on the road. It is fair to assume that Alabama would win that game if it was played in Bama.Duck24 wrote:God I hate the polls. However, when all is said and done, I agree that South Carolina should be ranked over Bama. Their lone loss was on the road at currently undefeated Auburn, so their record is pretty much equal to Bama's. And the margin of victory was enough to compensate for it being a home win.

Absolutely hilarious. Looks like no one, other than the local reporters, even watched the game. On Sportscenter, they showed the pass from Thomas to James and said something to the effect of "another route by Oregon"
They didn't even mention the injuries. Oregon is lucky that this game was only televised in Oregon and Washington.
“If everybody in this room just want to be real with themselves, this game could have went either way,” he said. “We turned the ball over a lot. We beat ourself. Just be real with yourself right now. We beat ourself.”

Yea, and frankly, if there is one thing the SEC does well its that they all talk about the strength of their conference. We know if that was a SEC team with that body of work they'd be higher than 24.Duck24 wrote:They deserve it. Re: Oregon #2
I think Bama is still ranked over South Carolina mainly because of the big difference in ranking before the game. There's just no justification for Bama to drop about 9-10 spots and South Carolina rising that far in return to get ahead of Bama. Plus Bama is still a top-10 team to me while South Carolina isn't quite there yet in my book.wlduck wrote:I know this will be a minority position, but I don't think that just because Team A loses loses to Team B they have to be ranked lower. Re: Oregon #2
Having 5-0 missouri and OK st so far down is a travesty. They should be above the 1 loss teams.

I have not seen Missouri, but I have watched Okie State twice. I would have a hard time putting them in the top 10.Zyme wrote:Having 5-0 missouri and OK st so far down is a travesty. They should be above the 1 loss teams.

They started off so low or out of the polls that they'll always have a tough climb this season to reach the top-15.wlduck wrote:I have not seen Missouri, but I have watched Okie State twice.
