Wh 3 Commits Make Biggest Impact Next Year? Overall?

Post by Mops »

Who does everyone think will have the biggest on the field impact next season? Then who does everyone think when everything is said and done with this class will have the best career?

Give your top 3 and a reason as to why.

In no particular order:

Jackson Rice: He will replace Syria as our punter

Zac Clark: He has an opportunity to start at DE and is ready to play

Tyrece Gaines: He could be a starting WR in this offense and get a ton of touches

That's a tough one Mops, because I don't know how many recruits from this class will play next year given how deep we are at a lot of positions. I will go with the following:

Biggest impact next year:

Gaines
Jackson
Littlejohn

Best impact over their careers:

Harris
Jackson
Clay

Mine:

Dark horses...

Andrew Iaputi/Terrance Montgomery: Depth at the DL and quite possibly a real strong force up the middle....

Mike Bowlin/Jackson Rice: My bet is that one of them ends up 1st string AND does well...

And then not really a darkhorse but, BLJ will make it happen as a linebacker.

Overall career....... UM.... more Dark horses...
Defense
I like Taylor Hart.... Avery Patterson and Keli'ikipi.....

Offense
Jackson. Period.

After reading the articles about them in today's R-G, Montgomery and Clark... Between attitude, maturity, and experience ( plus they are aready enrolled.), I think they are going to have instant impact on the quality of the D.

Clark is already being compared favorably to Reed.

The other one I am looking forward to is DJ... The next great Oregon receiver.

duckgrad I like your list!

I go with...
Bryson Littlejohn...dude needsto be on the field ST, LB where ever!
A new DT either Terrance Montgomery or Andrew Iupati...whoever plays more we need the depth.
Tyrece Gaines...we need this guy to contribute in a big way at WR!

And over their careers...I agree with duckgrads list.

GO DUCKS!!

I agree with everyone but Jackson next year. Trade him out for Montgomery and the list is exactly what I wanted to say.

LittleJohn- going to lay the lumber, will take the MLB spot right away.
Gaines-big target, hard to tackle, fills major position of need.
Clark-JC player should get lots of time, already enrolled which should help the cause.
Will all contribute next year as they all fill positions of need.

Harris-he can flat out cover, and if he adds some weight will be a tackling machine
Diante-kid can flat out play, and he has hands. I have a good feeling here.
Brian Jackson TACKLING MACHINE, especially since we use our Safety/Rover so much, I think this kid will be a good one.
are all 3 players who will have outstanding seasons at Oregon.

It might have been a bit unrealistic for me to put down both Gaines and Jackson contributing next year, so I might replace one of them with Jackson Rice.

My main reason for leaving out Gaines was the lack of a loi for the time being... As soon as he qualifies, I believe he moves ahead of jackson.

Jackson Rice - He should start. Great Punter.
Andrew Iupati - IMO he'll have a Tukuafu type impact on the ducks when Will first came here.
Cliff Harris - I have a hard time not seeing someone with Cliff's talent to succeed this year.

Here would be my top 3 for next season and then down the road.

Next Year:

LB Littlejohn: I think Littlejohn is going to win out the starting LB spot for us mid way through the season and have a similar type Junior year that Blair Phillips had his junior year. Adjust the first few weeks to the level of play and be a very good special teams player and when given the chance, plays well with the 1st team. Then mid-season he finally wins out and will be our run stuffing backer.

WR Jackson: I don't think Jackson will start but he will be in the mix a good amount of plays and on special teams. He has game breaking speed and great yac ability with the ball in his hands. He will provide no jaw dropping stats his freshman year to earn any awards and praise from media and fans outside of the Oregon program but we will see the talent and ability that will catch everyone by storm his Sophomore season.

DT Montgomery: I think Montgomery is going to be a real force for us. Something about him just clicks and I think his military background will help pay off down the road. Hard working, great motor, aggressive DTs always do well for us. It always seems like outside of Ngata our lower ranked DTs end up being better than our higher ranked DTs.

As for an entire career there are a few I think would be total studs from this group. I am so excited over this team and its potential that I simply cant limit myself to 3 players as I wouldn't be giving the others justice with their potential.

WR Jackson: Reasons stated above as I think next fall will show the talent hes bringing into the table and one that will be very productive over the 4 seasons he is at Oregon.

LB Lokombo: Biggest steal of the LB group right here if you want to even call im a steal. I think both him and Michael Clay both will be great players but something about a guy who can play RB or WR in college but has the size and strength to play LB and plays LB in college speaks volumes to me. BoLo will be a stud when his 5 years are over here.

OT Benyard: Future ground clearing machine for Oregon. He won't see starter snaps till his Junior season simply because our youth along the OL is so good but that will be a blessing in itself. With time to get into shape, add muscle, and adjust to the game at the D1 level I expect huge RB stats from this guy.

CBs Patterson and Harris: I think if they work hard, learn from the talented vets we have right now in Thurmond and Jackson they both will be one of the best corner tandems in the Pac-10 when its all said and done. Both have amazing cover corner speed and great hip/foot work.

IMO
Next year
D Jackson
Littlejohn
BOLO
Overall
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that someday, somehow, Hawkins will come up huge for us.
Brian Jackson, that kid's got heart and I love the way he plays
Everett Benyard is going to be great. If he gets his footwork going he'll be scary. I watched a video on him and he absolutely mauled everyone he went against.
Just the three who stand out to me
In Helfrich, Frost, and Allioti we trust
