Personally I think we lead for him. There was a rumor back before he decided to hold off on his commit and wait till March that we were the school to beat.

A guy who is 6'7 or 6'8 with very long arms and and can score from inside and out will do wonders for Oregon. It would allow the staff to also break up the classes with talent. Having a big time player like this come in would ease the burden years down the road.

Thats been the biggest issue IMO with the Oregon program. We bring in these large classes that are talented. Ok thats great, but we need to follow that class up with one just as talented per player and to be even more safe the next two would need to be just as good to help ease the loss of the large class.

Imagine where this team would be right now if we had 2 seniors that were 4*s and were guys who were key contributors over their first 3 years at Oregon.

I think the biggest need is a "NBA" point guard. Forwards just don't thrive at Oregon under Kent. Obviously I would love Wilson, but Texas and Michigan State have much better programs.

Completely agree. Our good years are when we had a handful of 4 stars. Most the guys on our roster right now are 3 stars (In fact according to scout, the only player that's better than a 3 star on our roster is Freshman Michael Dunigan).

He looks and sounds like a good player for Oregon to get, but I really think this team needs more post players. I think that Kent should go after Riley from Michigan. He sounds like a longshot but would greatly increase our inside depth and talent.

It boggles my mind that top recruits (especially big men) even look in our direction. The product that we are putting on the floor this year leaves a lot to be desired. As someone else mentioned, Kent can't succeed without a PG with NBA level talent.

Kent's system looks very good to young, athletic wings who are good shooters. They see an opportunity to play right away and be successful. I also feel that Sim will develop into a very productive PG, but most freshmen PGs struggle early in their careers. The one recent exception to this was Derrick Rose, but he was helped along by a very veteran Memphis team, so he didn't have to carry a majority of the offensive load.

Kent's only coaching strength is with wing players. Jamil would be great here & almost guaranteed to start his freshman year.

As much as I doubt Kent's ability to coach this team, I don't doubt for a second that this team will eventually be incredibly good. In a few years we will have a team full of incredibly talented Jrs & Srs and in college basketball, you will go far with a team built like that. I would expect to have another elite 8, maybe final 4, run with this group of players.

It really shouldn't. Basketball recruiting is all about connections and shoe companies. And in Oregon's case they have both. Kenny Payne is very well connected and is a big reason for much of the recent recruiting success.

I almost forgot about this guy....holy cow that article paints a pretty good picture about what type of players he is...WOW do we need this guy in a HUGE way!

I wonder what Jamil thinks about how we are playing this year? I hope he sees a young and talented team not a underachieving poorly coach one!

He does sounds like he's headed our way come March but we will see!

A brand new arena, Nike, success in the PAC-10, success in the NCAA Tournament, Nike, playing time, and of course the beautiful city of Eugene. There isnt a whole lot more you can realisticly ask for.

Success in the pac-10? Kent has a losing record in conference play at Oregon. I wouldn't exactly say success in the NCAA tournament either, because in all but 2 seasons under Kent, they have failed to make the tournament or went out in the first round.

Not to mention a good shot at the nba. Ridnour, Brooks, Jackson, and Jones were all first round picks (and most pretty high). And Malik is in the NBA too. If I'm a recruit, I'd be excited about that.
