Quoting Bruce Barron:
“I feel like the West Coast is for me. My brother playing at Washington, that made me want the experience of playing in the Pac-10.”
“That was a big issue to me because I want to see how far I can lead a team. I’m capable of leading a team, that’s what I’ve always done”
Quoting Jabari Brown:
“The coaches did the best job of making me feel like I was a priority. That was a big thing for me, knowing that coaches really want you.”
“I see myself fitting in well. I’m a team player, I want to be a leader and do anything I can to bring the team around.”
“The facilities definitely helped in my decision. The school has done a lot for the foundation of the program. And the academic center was impressive, it shows that Oregon really cares about what we do off the court.”
“I am really excited about working with Coach Altman and the staff. I really want to be a key part of the team and get back to the Elite Eight and have fans pumped about Oregon basketball like they are Oregon football.”
Quoting Brett Kingma:
“I developed a really good relationship with the coaching staff during the recruiting process. They want me to succeed not only as a basketball player but also as a person. I just know that the basketball program will continue to build with Coach Altman.”
“Growing up, watching Luke Ridnour lead those Oregon teams, he was my idol. We’re both the same size and from the same area. So I’ve always been interested in Oregon.”
Quoting Austin Kuemper:
“The first time I came on a visit, I was blown away by the school spirit and the fans. As soon as I saw the facilities and the support that the school could provide, I knew that was where I wanted to go and spend my college experience.”
“Being close to my family was important, but it was my decision to make. As soon as I stepped foot on the Oregon campus, I knew that was where I wanted to go.”
Some great quotes, especially from Jabari and Kingma.
“If everybody in this room just want to be real with themselves, this game could have went either way,” he said. “We turned the ball over a lot. We beat ourself. Just be real with yourself right now. We beat ourself.”

I'm excited too...I like this group coming in my only fear is we will have to go through a rebuilding year every 3-4 years but I guess this is what happens when a team gets blown up!
He's going to have 4-5 in the 2011 class and then another 4-5 in the 2012 class so things will balance out again, especially if he takes a JUCO player or two.

Ya, currently Singler will be the only junior on the roster next season. So if Altman strikes out on some of the high rated guys still on the board then I wouldn't be surprised if he finds a big out of JC.
Ernie Kent: I know the simple mention of his name makes some people squirm, but you have to give this man credit.
Note that Brown mentions getting back to the Elite 8 and Kingma mentions Luke Ridnour. Realize that neither of these two associations are made with UO without coach Kent.
Coach Kent did a great job taking the UO to the next level. He was a huge positive for our BB program and we are building on his success. Regardless of whether you feel he should have been fired or not, at least give the man his due for what he did for UO. I don't understand the continued bashing that some of our fans seem to enjoy regarding Kent.

Great job Kent ! Good luck Alman ! and Go Ducks !
I agree he did a good job in building up the program but it stagnated the last couple years. The only bad thing to come of his firing was all the players transferring out. I think we'll have to give DA some time before we can really judge him.

Agree. Ernie did some great things while at Oregon. He was also very kind to the students. Unfortunately, his teams were far too inconsistent. It was time for a change. I'm looking forward to more sustainable success under Altman.

I know you are not disagreeing with my post but your response highlites the job that EK did. If you think the program was stagnating a couple years under EK, try having the program stagnating for A COUPLE DECADES before Kent. That was a rough time to be a Duck Basketball fan.
I think DA will do a great job. Good hire. Go Ducks !!
