Kansas State vs Syracuse
Meh. I guess it'd be cool to see how Chris Harper looks these days.

Is Harper the test dummy for the splinter removal specialist?

He has 3 TDs this season so it's not like doesn't play at all, but you almost have to wonder how good he would have been had he stayed at Oregon.woundedknees wrote:Is Harper the test dummy for the splinter removal specialist?

Re: Kansas State vs Syracuse
What kind of production did Harper have as a true freshman, in Oregon's system?
9 receptions, for 13.6 ypc, and 2 TDs, to go along with his 35 rushes, for 3.9ypc, and an additional 2 TDs. (Anybody else think he would have been perfect for the TZR?)
Watching Blackmon in the Okey State-Az game last night had me wondering about what Oregon could bave developed him into.
At KSU, as a red shirt Sophomore, he has 20 catches, for 13.7 ypc, and 2 TDs.
Now there's some player development for you!

Harper is #3 and a very lazy route runner! He was in the slot on a designed outside run to his side of the field and he trotted down 10 yards and blocked no one to help his RB out.
I guess we should be glad he left as that would have never flown here.

Who knows for sure though. Had he stayed, we can assume he would have bought into the fact that he may not be a QB, but he could be one heck of a WR in this system. So, if he stayed, I think we can assume we would have seen more of thisTualatinDuck wrote:Harper is #3 and a very lazy route runner! and he would be playing in the National Championship game along side fellow SRs Davis and Maehl, making one heck of a WR trio.
Yet, he decided to go home to KSU and has been able to skate under Snyder because well, Snyder doesn't care, just that you're a high ranked guy in his program. What this shows though is 1 player doesn't make a system and thus isn't above the team.
Drop! I feel bad for the guy with all that talent.

Harper could have been a star had he stayed at Oregon. Oh well, he didn't want to be there.

Wow that excessive celebration penalty on the KSU WR was BS. A quick salute to the crowd gets him a 15 yard penalty on the 2 point conversion. What a bunch of crap!

Technically the right call, but a terrible rule. If I was a K State fan I would probably hold a rulebook burning party immediately.

And I thought the penalty against Jake Locker for throwing the ball straight up over his shoulder was stupid... There should be an "Excessive Anal-ity" penalty for interpreting rules so tight to the letter of the law, rather than the spirit of the rule.

Re: Kansas State vs Syracuse
the rule is written in such a manner as to make it subjective rather than objective which means that its a bunch of bs. every time an Oregon player has made an O after a td should be flagged if we want to go with the "technically speaking" route. The official did what no official is supposed to do - interject themselves into the outcome of the game without cause.

Re: Kansas State vs Syracuse
And Maehl would be flagged each time he pops his chest and raises his arm after a TD.
It is a subjective rule and should only be called when the player does something towards the other team.
It killed KSU's chances of tying up the game. I hate it when the refs make a questionable/subjective call that clearly impacts the game.
