Pathetic half by both teams. Lockett isn't even playing for ASU. Oregon needs a big second half.

56-51 ASU 5:30 to go
Just from box score browsing its nice to see EJ pick up the fouls to go 8-8 from the line. It either means he's driving to the basket or getting fouled in the paint - either way its nice to see some more assertiveness because we really need him to be our "overachiever" to win some of these games.

Down 1 point with a little more than a minute left. Man if we could pull this win off, that'd be big for this group. We need some confidence before we hit the road, and open our new stadium.

Just brutal. An awful way to leave Mac court. This might be the worst shooting team in the history of Oregon basketball. A bunch of no names had career games for ASU tonight.

Down one with 1:10 left, Singler shoots a 3. On the other end, he fouls an ASU player...and 1. The ASU player missed the free throw.
Singler then shoots another 3 and misses.
Really surprised that Altman isn't using Teondre Williams more. He is probably the team's best outside shooter.
Garrett Sim is averaging almost 25 minutes a game. Pretty ridiculous.

Sim is shooting 25% from the 3point arc, he can't play defense. I don't get why he continues to get a gracious amount of minutes. I'd rather see Teondre or even that walkon get more minutes.uostudent wrote:Down one with 1:10 left, Singler shoots a 3. On the other end, he fouls an ASU player...and 1. I wouldn't be too down on Sinlger. He's the only guy outside of Catron who contributes to this team. Strowbridge is awful as well.

Yeah, pretty much everyone outside of Catron and Singler has done nothing. The most dissapointing player to me has probably been Armstead.

Yeah I'd have to agree mainly because he was pretty reliable last year.duckgrad99 wrote:Yeah, pretty much everyone outside of Catron and Singler has done nothing. The most dissapointing player to me has probably been Armstead.

I'm definitely not down on Singler. I just don't like Altman expecting him to be the man every time in close games. Defenses are starting to focus more on Singler since he's one of the team's only decent scoring options.UOducksTK1 wrote:Sim is shooting 25% from the 3point arc, he can't play defense. I'd like to see Altman give Teondre more minutes and get him more involved in the offense. I don't care if he plays turnstyle defense, the guy can score. Sim adds nothing to this team.

Re: Arizona State @ Oregon
I would rather see Teondre taking the shot late than Singler since he's just a tad better at the outside shot. It's too bad that Altman keeps him off the floor in those situations and leaves a bunch of guys who can't shoot out there.uostudent wrote:I'm definitely not down on Singler. Re: Arizona State @ Oregon
I swear I don't do this just to hear myself talk, but for the millionth time, just because you SAY Sim doesn't play defense, that doesn't make it so. Armstead has been our best perimeter defender, and Sim is right behind him. Nobody else on the wing plays even the slightest bit of defense, thus Sim gets his minutes. No, Sim isn't shooting well. Yes, Teondre is the better offensive player. But Sim plays because he D's up and he doesn't turn the ball over. Really, that's it. It's not a huge conspiracy. Teondre is an athletic freak of nature and he is indeed our best 3-pt shooter (he's automatic from the corner) but he's a matador on defense. That's why Teondre doesn't start, and Altman has to pull out insanely short line-ups like tonight's Armstead/Loyd/Strowbridge/EJ/Catron starting 5. Teondre offensive skill set and size would be IDEAL for what we want to do, but he just doesn't get it defensively.

If we're saying that Sim is one of our better perimeter defenders, then we are seriously in trouble.
