I hope our 2010 class gets filled in a less exciting manner. This was quite a roller coaster ride. Bryce sure would be some fine icing on the cake though.

You guys are all celebrating prematurely, Gaines's paperwork still has to be approved by the Northwest's Ivory Tower of Academic Admissions.

I figured Twitter would have already notified us all of his LOI being accepted by this time today. What's the holdup? Please, not another Anthony Leon, Myles Wade, JT Thompson issue!!!

I agree that it is too early for anyone to officially celebrate. All along the problem has had less to do with Gaines' willingness to come to Oregon and more to do with whether or not he would be accepted. Thus, even if some unnamed source at Butler C.C. is correct about Gaines sending his LOI, it isn't a given he will be in an Oregon uniform next season. That being said, I would rather have unnamed sources giving positive news regarding this situation than the alternative.

Here is what Moseley has to say in his comment section, cautioning people against celebrating prematurely:

We haven’t spoken with Gaines or his coach, and Oregon isn’t announcing this, so certainly Gaines-to-Oregon isn’t a done deal (particularly until the Ducks clear his LOI through compliance). But folks wanted an update on the situation, and we got word today this was going down. So take it for what it is.

Here is what Moseley had to say about Gaines today...

Let’s start with JC receiver Tyrece Gaines, who, we reported last week, was finalizing some paperwork in order to complete a transfer to Oregon. From what I could pick up over the weekend, it doesn’t sound like the Ducks have received anything new from Gaines, so there’s still something hanging up the process. I’m aware there’s speculation out there about him, but I’m not going to report anything until I can get confirmation on the exact nature of the delay. Whatever the holdup, our understanding is Gaines’ other finalist, Oklahoma, is no longer a serious challenger to the Ducks for Gaines’ services.
