I went to the USC game and love the entire facility, including the court itself.....

Here's a thought... If the court, in any way, gives the Ducks a mental advantage in games they play, I love it!
This is as close to an Oregon version of "Smurf Turf" as I care to get, though!

From Bob Clark at the RG...
A TV camerman told me it was difficult to shoot the game because the court is multi-colored, and the cameras have to be adjusted as the action goes from one end through the lighter-colored midcourt area and back into the browner areas.

Wounded...It didnt come across as being "gimicky" such as the Smurf Turf, as it is surrounded by a top notch surrounding facility, second to none at this point in time....The Smurf Turf is just blue carpet in a crappy stadium setting..woundedknees wrote:Here's a thought... Matt Court is way beyond that in a very classy way.....Its innovative.....That's my take on it...Its an awesome place to watch a game in person...Not sure about on TV...Will check that out today...But, lets face it...those watching a game on TV have zero impact on win/loss record, converse to those watching a game at the facility....I like that the Ducks continue to be cutting edge, and expect for other new arenas to pick up on something more than just a plain or bland painted floor....

Re: Matt Court Floor
I don't think "gimmicky" was the intent, but there are definitely some players who can be distracted by unfamiliar things, such as the pattern on Matt Court.
Like I said, any advantage is welcome.
While not being able to recognize details such as the half-court line are distracting to viewers, I believe the players are practicing there enough that an over and back call against the Ducks is a brain fart, not the failure to recognize where the mid-court line is located on a regular basis.

Hey we won the first NCAA tournament in history. I think it's pretty important to honor and remember that accomplishment and I think this is a very cool way to do that.

Only real problem i have with the new arena is the horn. It's just a weird grinding sound instead of an actual horn.
