A&M to the SEC talk heating up again

If A&M goes, I'm hearing the SEC would take strong looks at West Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Florida State; A&M would join the West, one of those three would join the East.

This also re-opens up our own expansion... again. The Big 12 was on life support BEFORE Texas signed that 20-year/$300 mil TV deal with ESPN; now? Good look keeping that thing together. It's going to be open season on the Big 12 soon, who do you like?

I wanted Kansas really bad last time, for nothing more than hoops. I'm sure Mizzou would be a favorite. I'm sure the Pac-10 would want to get into Texas, but I'm not interested in Baylor (personally) and Texas Tech is about as interesting as a root canal. Honestly? I understand the whole religion issue it would bring with it, but in two years TCU is going to want to switch conferences yet again (they always do), and I wouldn't argue adding a nationally elite football and baseball programs... religion aside.

I think it would be, but one of the appeals of the Pac-16 was Texas and Oklahoma, and I don't think either jump. Texas will go independent within 4 years.

The Texas Legislator already has said they won't allow A&M and UT to be in different conferences. That was part of the reason the Pac-16 fell apart this summer.

UT is totally insufferable at this point. I hope their contract totally falls apart.

I don't get the religion issue with TCU? What difference does it make?

When Texas is independent, that wont make a difference.

That would certainly make the PAC a far more difficult conference to win.

Sounds as if Oklahoma may be trying to start up their own network as well. Rumors at this point, but could be interesting.

The Pac-10 isn't really a "religious" kind of affiliation.

If the idea bugs everybody so much, give them their own conference!

Western Division : BYU, Vanderbilt, SMU, TCU, Baylor, Tulsa

Even if they had AQ status with the BCS, Notre Dame might never get the invitation again.

Wow, that would be the most illegitimate conference ever. TCU would bend everyone over year after year.

I'm not religious, but I don't understand schools like UO, Cal and CU all full of supposed "open minded" staff and students, yet they would never allow a religious school in the Pac-12. If you want people to be accepting then show some acceptance yourself, or your just as narrow minded as those that you tell to open their minds.

TCU would have been a great school to add to the Pac, we missed the boat there. I can tell you athletically they run circles around CU right now, and it doesn't look like that will change anytime soon. And honestly isn't all this expansion about the all mighty $. What brings in more money, CU with 50k stadium and winning 4-5 games a year, or TCU with a stadium about the same size, but close to Dallas, and if they where in the Pac it could easily expand and they win 9-11 games a year.
