We should all know by now that I play the karma game, and I play it well. Sadly, I thought going into the weekend that if we had a prayer in either game it would be Cal, since they're so young and inconsistent and Maples is our own personal house of horrors. That brief sliver of hope just doomed our chances Saturday, as I thought for a moment we might actually win.

I believe Cal may have shot their proverbial wad (All 28 points worth) on OSU ;ast night.
It will be close.

Re: Oregon @ Cal
I think there's going to now be this inclination among a lot of Duck fans to think we're getting "hot" now, including getting that huge Maples Pavillion monkey off our back, so that winning at a 4-4 (in league) Cal team is a real possibility. It wouldn't shock me, but I agree with those who don't see it happening tomorrow. I fear that the Ducks' dearth of talent will likely catch up with them at times, no matter how well they're playing as a team.
Sure hope I'm wrong, though.

Notice I didn't predict a win... A W would have me grinning ear to ear, but I will not expect anything, since the fragility of this team has been so obvious this season.
Here's hoping everybody stays healthy enough to contribute, from here out.

Re: Oregon @ Cal
The only thing you can predict from this team is that they will come out hard on defense. The biggest question marks every night will be shooting and rebounding, which makes every game questionable.

They may be the hottest team in the league right now. Cal just destroyed the Beavs last night. Though that's not much.
Stanford win was great, but hoping for a win against this lot will be tough.

With the way we play defense anything can happen. Like my beev friend said, we slop up the game so much we can stick with teams that are better than us. Especially a team like Cal thats offensively driven. What came easy for them against the beevs will take a lot of scrapping against us.

Re: Oregon @ Cal
If they continue to play as a team, play solid D, rebound and can shoot 45%, they have a chance...

Re: Oregon @ Cal
Playing hard on D is slopping up the game? It's not like we are playing slow it down crap ball like the WSU teams under Bennett and how OS likes to play. Beav logic at it's best, calling our play slop is just a back handed compliment. Just like they say we run a gimmick O in football, rather than just saying UO is the better team.

This is a team that has learned that you have 5 fouls in a game, and that there are "good" times to foul somebody (hard), and then there are "stupid" times to foul someone. Part of playing solid defense for an undersized team is understanding when to make those good, hard fouls rather than the lazy and stupid fouls we've been accustomed to. The biebers think that is 'sloppin it' up because a hard foul gets under a guy's skin and he becomes less reticent and is focused on other things, which take them off their game. It's no different than whiny reeves from ucla and his buddy after they lost. Some of these guys need to go to a Jerry Sloan coaching clinic if they want to see "rough" play.

Keep the predictions coming oregontrack!! You called for the Ducks to lose the last two and they won! Keep this up and we can make the NCAA's!! Re: Oregon @ Cal
I don't see anything wrong with that desription. It'd be one thing if we were really talented, like the football team. Calling that a gimmick is a joke, we're just better than everyone. But our basketball team isn't "better" than any of these teams we've beaten. OS has twice the talent we have, we just play twice as hard & scrap for every point, rebound or steal we can get. Thats pretty much "slopping" it up. Just watch a game, its a pretty accurate description IMO. I get what you're saying it just doesn't apply in this case.buckmarkduck wrote:Playing hard on D is slopping up the game? Re: Oregon @ Cal
I would agree that you could call Oregon's style "slopping." Oregon is not going to have one of those pretty blow-out games this year; each game is going to be a hard-fought, physical contest.dthomas=ddixon wrote:I don't see anything wrong with that desription.
