USC pulls out of Brown race

Well this is good I suppose...Butler is really pushing K State it seems. Ugh. It seems quite clear that Butler is milking this for every last oz of spotlight. Not a bad idea to extend your 15 mins at long a possible but is this guy not destroying all his credibility? This is going to be alot more fun than the Tahj/Pryor thing... ;)
Stewart Mandel-"From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer to watch a good spread-rushing offense over a traditional Power-I offense, and Oregon's has been the most fun by far for the past several years. It's fast, its precise, and when Chip Kelly has the right quarterback (Dixon, Masoli) at the helm, the possibility of someone ripping off a 60-yard run exists on nearly every play."

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see him going to Kansas State.

Rightfully or not, fans have been led to assume that the Brown sweepstakes has been unofficially narrowed to a race between Miami, Oregon and LSU. But Butler shoots down that assumption with authority.

"No, that's not safe to say at all," he said. "There are more than three schools, with K-State being one of them. Oregon, LSU and Miami, as well as Tennessee and K-State (are all equal). Oh, as well as Clemson. They're all still equal. We're not trying to narrow this down or make cuts."

 I love how they add "are all equal", when it's pretty clear he's just listing what schools are still in it. Butler's not saying they're equal, K State just wishes they were.

Butler cracks me up. He's giving HIS choice of schools & opinions of them, not Bryce's. Unless they are words from Bryce himself I don't take them seriously. Butler, though he may be trying to, isn't making the decision for BB & I still think He's coming here.

And good observation Tray Dub. I didn't see that skimming through the article. Typical media spin

This is the biggest piece of non-news I've seen in a long time...

USC decides to "pull out" of the Brown sweepstakes after learing that Bryce won't make a visit...real bold move there from Petey, he really put his foot down on that one.

On the other hand you've got Butler, who upon learning of this bold move by the Trojans, feels the need to act like SC was still a strong option for Brown.

Talk about posturing

So it's down to Oregon, LSU, and Miami with Oregon holding the lead. That could change when/if he visits LSU.

What about UT? Over there, they think he may have already signed with them. :)

Don't forget the Canadian football league's in the mix. Once again, as long as the OREGON name is out there, we get free publicity. All we can do is thank the Pryors, Tajs and this Butler fellow. We don't really need the players.

I was in Chicago recently and the OREGON name is attracting attention beyond our "crazy" uniforms as one guy called them.

So, sit back, enjoy the free ride. Feel grateful for our players who truly want to be DUcks.

Assuming we don't get Brown since he may go to one of the "equal" schools..who will get that scholarship? Mops what do you think, current walk-on, new walk-on, or someone that hasn't committed?

Maybe that schollie would be pushed to the 2010 class as we're high on interested recruits and low on avails.

Uh oh...his mother is jumping into the picture now!

"(Bryce returning to K-State for an unofficial visit) is something we'll have to talk to Mrs. Brown about, because I know she would like to come up there and see it," Butler said. "Mrs. Brown is not a person who says things that she doesn't mean. Time is very tight though. We have to look at scheduling and those things. We haven't sat down and discussed a specific time. We looked at the basketball schedule, and there are some dates that are feasible later in March. There is a March 7th date, I believe. That's one that is feasible."

I thought there was another JC RB that had some interest. Did that change?

Randux posts, "Uh oh...his mother is jumping into the picture now!

Can't believe it. Now the circus attracts more characters.
