Nared had by far his best game as a Duck. Now is the time our JC players have historically begun to hit their stride, he could have a nice finish to the season.
Agreed on Jacob, something just isn't right.
Strowbridge plays because we have two SG's on the roster and everybody always asks why the other one plays so much (Sim), and something has to give.
He's currently leading the team in 3pt%, leads all guards in 2pt% and averages the fewest minutes per game (out of the guards).

He's not a guard, so you don't really need to compare him to that kind of minutes the actual guards are playing. And I think this has been brought up several times before on this site: Teondre doesn't play as much as some fans would like because he can't defend, and he can't rebound his position. He's a good open court shooter, but he makes less than 1 trey per 18 minutes. It's not like he comes in, lights up the net, and sits to the dismay of Duck fans everywhere. He's made 18 threes in 19 games.Boom wrote:Doesn't matter minutes are minutes and he's playing the fewest out of the guards.oregontrack wrote:Because of our lack of height, Teondre has played exclusively at the 3 this year. You can say the same thing for Strowbridge.oregontrack wrote:Teondre doesn't play as much as some fans would like because he can't defend, and he can't rebound his position. At least Teondre has more than 1 year of eligibility.

Teondre has not played one minute of SG this year. He's played exclusively behind EJ, and plays when EJ sits or when EJ swings inside. Therefore, you comparing minutes between Teondre and those that actually play SG is irrelevant.
Strowbridge doesn't play great defense, no, but he is, at least, in position most of the time and puts a body between the offense and the basketball and 'gets' what we're doing. Teondre doesn't. Teondre also can't board, which is actually kind of surprising, whereas Strowbridge is actually kind of good at it for his size.

He's playing out of position. It doesn't change the fact that he can and should play SG or at least get some minutes there.oregontrack wrote:Teondre has not played one minute of SG this year. Strowbridge is a 1 year rental who is 7-21 in the past 2 games.... the fact that he averages .5 more rebounds is ridiculously irrelevant.

I too can selectively choose stats: In Oregon's three conference wins Strowbridge is 13/23 from the floor, 6/11 from three, and averaging 12 points.Boom wrote:He's playing out of position. I understand Teondre is playing out of position, but the fact of the matter is he not a SG for us, therefore there's no intellectual reason to compare his minutes to those who play a separate position. The only person he splits time with is EJ, so any beef with his minutes should come at Singler's expense.Boom wrote:He's playing out of position. Strowbridge plays the 2, and has, at times, even played a little point for us this year; the fact that he outrebounds a much taller forward is not ridiculously irrelevant when determining who is a better rebounder. That Strowbridge outrebounds Teondre is a damning statement about Teondre's aggressiveness.

I'm with Boom on this one, Teondre is a SG, and he should be playing more minutes there. What makes Sim or Strowbridge so much more qualified to play SG than Teondre? Neither are great defenders and both are inconsistent shooters. While Teondre's defense is a concern, his rebounding ability and 3point shot make up for that.

What are you going to say if Altman starts giving him minutes at SG(his natural position)..... "well now he plays SG for us"
EJ and Teondre are capable of playing on the court together. That is not an intellectual reason to not give Teondre minutes at SG.

Who cares when any of these guys plays out of position. When we have injuries we barely even have a
bench!! I am over the moon we have three league wins.

Sim and Strowbridge get like 25mpg, they get less rpg than teondre was getting in 16mpg last year. He gets tip dunks, and he does have hops. Maybe not the best rebounder, but better than most other SGs.oregontrack wrote:Teondre has absolutely no rebounding ability.UOducksTK1 wrote:I'm with Boom on this one, Teondre is a SG, and he should be playing more minutes there. Re: Oregon @ Cal
I'm not dense, you're just doing an extremely poor job of following our back-and-forth. You think I'm arguing that Teondre "shouldn't" play minutes at the two-guard, which I'm not (and never have). I'm merely pointing out that he hasn't played SG all year, thus Altman seems to disagree with you about where he's best suited to help the team. Get it? Teondre isn't playing SG for us under Altman, hence you interjecting with "Teondre is a SG, he should be getting minutes" is both incorrect and irrelevant to my initial reply to uostudent. What you think doesn't matter to this team when the head coach quite obviously disagrees with you.Boom wrote:Wow your dense...oregontrack wrote:I understand Teondre is playing out of position, but the fact of the matter is he not a SG for us, therefore there's no intellectual reason to compare his minutes to those who play a separate position. I think he's got great hops, I just don't agree that his "rebounding ability makes up for" anything. He's not rebounding worth s*** this year. Like much of his game, I think he's got the potential to do a lot of things but he's a very poor rebounding 2-guard. I don't think he's better than most SGs at hitting the boards at all, not even ours.UOducksTK1 wrote:Sim and Strowbridge get like 25mpg, they get less rpg than teondre was getting in 16mpg last year.
