NFL Network love affair with Pat White

Post by dudefromor »

anyone else know why all the hype? the guy is not really that good. only 1 300 yard passing game in his career and he got it on his last game. i dont see what all the buzz is about.

I haven't been watching it, but he's not likely to be drafted as a QB anyway, though he's not as bad as you make him out to be. He played 3 years in a spread that focused on the run. You won't have many 300 yard games that way. How many did Dixon have? I'm too lazy to look it up, but I'm not sure I recall him even having one, but maybe he had 1 or 2. White is incredibly athletic and a burner, he's probably going to be a very good slot receiver in the NFL, and that is why there may be focus on him.

Because he rushed for 4,480 yards, the most by a quarterback in FBS history. I would say that's extremely impressive.

According to ESPN statistics, Dixon threw for over 300 yards 3 times during his career, two of those times coming in his final season in 2007. He came close a couple of other times in 2007 (292 vs. Michigan, 287 vs. Washington St.).

How many QB's in the NFL are run first? the answer is NONE. If you cant throw the ball consistently in the NFL you are pretty much worthless as a QB. I say he moves to WR in the NFL considering he ran a 4.50 40 yard dash at the combine. The QB position is not one you want to take too many chances on in the draft and IMO Pat White is far from a sure thing.

SI.com's Don Banks observed that West Virginia's Pat White threw better in drills than any of the quarterbacks at the Combine.

USC's Mark Sanchez reportedly looked "decent, but far from spectacular," while White appeared "poised and comfortable" and "especially strong in throwing deep outs." White's arm strength has drawn resoundingly strong reviews, increasing his chances of being drafted to play quarterback.

Also he is the first QB to lead his team to 4 straight bowl wins, including wins over Georgia (38-35), Georgia Tech (38-35), the 48-28 beat-down of chokelahoma, and the 31-30 thriller against NC. Not to mention that bullet of a pass he shot to his receiver for the game-winning TD vs NC. That's also kind of a big deal.
