Re: Washington @ Oregon
Altman for pac 10 coach of the year. This team might have the least amount of talent in the league, yet they are right in the race. If I had to pick a surprising player so far, it would have to be Nared.

Re: Washington @ Oregon
Think about it. Altman was hired after a weird coaching search.
Several players bolted for the door. Altman bringing anyone in that
could dribble a basketball just to fill seats. There were naysayers
galore wondering why Altman. Ducks picked last in the league.
Rough start to the PAC10 and things looking dim. Altman sticks
with and by his players. Not giving up on them he kept teaching
and working with them. All they needed to do was believe in them
selves and in the coaching staff. Not sure Ernie could have done the
same. Alman isnt a zone man but he knows his best chance with this
team is to play zone. This team started out shooting the ball horribly and
now shooting much better.
My hat is off to this team. Ive enjoyed watching them play more then
the last 3 years of teams here. It's fun watching them play together. They
prove that by the number of assists they are getting. But to me its the
effort they give. It's easy to get behind a team that try's hard.

Well said. Altman showed me something this week. Can't wait until he gets some of his guys in there as well.duckfan22 wrote:Think about it. Altman was hired after a weird coaching search.

After the drawn out coaching search I was a little worried but couldn't be happier with the job Altman has done. They are playing very disciplined and with a ton of effort and heart. Definitely should be in the coach of the year discussion.

My first trip to Matt knight arena didn't disappoint. Great win guys! Those steps on the second level are freaking steep. I would advise against drinking before the game if you're sitting in the 200 level.

Re: Washington @ Oregon
I found this ESPN's college basketball blog:
Oregon 81, No. 19 Washington 76: At the risk of encroaching on Bill Raftery's well-established choke hold on the "Sleepless In Seattle" pun market, let's just say Huskies fans are about to start having some serious REM-cycle issues. What appeared for much of the season to be the Pac-10's best team -- not to mention one of the most underrated and efficient teams in the country -- Washington suffered its second straight disaster in Oregon. Thursday's loss to Oregon State cost UW its spot at the top of the Pac-10 standings. Saturday's loss throws the whole conference title picture into whack. But it also does something worse: It casts doubt on this Washington team, which appeared to be rolling after the loss of Abdul Gaddy and the transition of Isaiah Thomas to the point guard spot. Clearly, that's not the case. Even worse, Washington, like Illinois above, is suddenly in frightening bubble territory, with no notable nonconference wins to speak of. (And we need to give some love to these Ducks, too, specifically coach Dana Altman. This team has no business beating Washington State and Washington in back-to-back games, but that's exactly what Altman and Co. just did. Impressive.)

Every time I hear Altman talk about 'we can play better?' I am like, I have got to try some of his Koo-laid! Whatever he is doing it is working.autzenzoo wrote:My first trip to Matt knight arena didn't disappoint. Great win guys! Those steps on the second level are freaking steep. And thanks for the info on the 200 level. Definitely applies to me!!

One of the ESECPN honks said after today's game that if the Ducks keep this up, Altman should be up for Nat'l COTY...

My first game at the MATT tonight. What a awesome facility. And a great game to watch us beat the dawgs, ranked 19th. Were ranked I should say. Priceless. Altman is an amazing coach. With the recruits coming in next year!!!

I believe it was Doug Gottelib (sp?) that was talking about the underrated coach nationally and the job Dana has done. He sure has done an amazing job this year and like some has said just wait till he gets his own recruits. Nice to see Sim playing better and I enjoy watching Catron doing so well.
