JC Forward Carlos Emery to visit?
Catron type?
http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketb ... rlos-emory
6'6/225
This power forward is very athletic and has a great body. He loves to take the ball to the basket and explode to the rim. He scores using his quickness and strength even through taller defenders. He lacks the size and ball skills to play at a high level. He is aggressive on the boards and runs the floor well and was active in transition.
Who knows what Altman could develop?

Here is a link to him on Youtube. Looks pretty athletic.

Might help ease the loss of Catron.

"Emory, a highly versatile 6'7 forward, is a player who has the ability to impact games both inside and outside. Emory averaged 11 points and 7 rebounds per contest as a freshman, and has beefed up those numbers to 18 points and 8 rebounds per game as a sophomore."
"Oklahoma, Baylor, West Virginia, Indiana, Mizzou, Oregon, Utah, Iowa, Texas, Kansas State, Santa Clara, CMU, North Texas, and Duquense are all among the long line of schools currently in the mix."

I've talked to Carlos three times for updates in the last 4-5 months and while he is getting some high major interest he's said he hasn't heard from Minnesota.
I'm not sure when he was at Edison and I can't confirm when or if he was there but I do know Carlos was a sophomore and junior at Eastview, spent the first part of his senior year at Kennedy and the second half of that senior year at Jefferson. He didn't play as a senior.
Two Carlos memories stand out:
1.) When he dunked on that huge Cali PnR guy who I think went to ASU or maybe it was UCLA. Caudil I think. He smashed on him and then got all tangled in the dude. Michael Much has a great photo of it.
2.) In Vegas two Julys back he had three monster boards, two dunks, a three and then an alley-oop in a small amount of time. After the first monster slam it was amazing to watch hundreds of college coaches on the other side of the gym all flipping through rosters at once.
Emory averaged around 11 points and 7 boards last season for Howard Junior College which wound up defeating Marquise Carter's Three Rivers CC team in the juco national title game. He'll be a sophomore next season and will likely be the featured player for a very dangerous program.

"What I absolutely love about both Space and Emory is that the words "combo" and "versatile" are riddled in every write up I see about them. Space sounds like he could play some face-up power forward but he also has the ball handling and creativity to play the off guard. At 6'6'', Emory is the same type of player but he seems to come with a less consistent jumper but probably more athleticism. I really like both these prospects alot and it seems like the staff is recognizing the impending hole at forward once next season comes to an end."

Sounds sort of like Nared coming out of JC, but without the 3-pt shooting.

It would have been interesting to see 2 Nared type guys on the floor at once.

Hope we snag him, we need all 6'7 and taller athletes we can get. He has the same frame as Gerrald Wallace, if he can go after rebounds and loose balls like Crash, then he would be a much welcomed piece to the puzzle.

If they're still recruiting for 2011, then I think that would be the obvious conclusion to come to.

Agree. Hopefully they are going to pull the big German's scholarship.oregontrack wrote:If they're still recruiting for 2011, then I think that would be the obvious conclusion to come to.
I'd hate to see a guy like Teondre Williams leave before his senior season.
“If everybody in this room just want to be real with themselves, this game could have went either way,” he said. “We turned the ball over a lot. We beat ourself. Just be real with yourself right now. We beat ourself.”
