Glad to see us end the regular season on a better note. We looked like we had lost everything we'd built the last few games. Good to see we're still capable of playing tough D & hustling.

Stupid Garrett Sim only shot 55% from the field in Tucson, why hasn't the angry mob come out? Surely this game was his fault, somehow.

It was since he missed a couple shots. As a whole, the team sucked by shooting only 51%; they should all lose their scholarships.

C'mon now.. Sim had the worst FG% out of all our top 8 scorers. 39% shooting on the season is pretty bad.

With that being said, Sim showed pretty big improvements this season IMO. The shot is still inconsistent, but at least he's finishing his layups more often and the shot is slowly getting better.

And while we are playing the percentage game to justify a players starting role for our team..

Teondre Williams didn't miss a shot today and scored 8 points. Teondre 2-2 on 3pointers. Sim 2-6 on 3pointers.

Teondre 44% 3point shooting on the season
Sim 33% 3point shooting on the season

Why isn't Teondre playing more? I don't mean to be rude, but we can play the numbers game all day.

Ouch! Sim shoots 55% from the floor and is our 2nd leading scorer in Tucson, and still he gets taken behind the shed.

I think Teondre's situation has been covered pretty well before, and nothing's changed. He's a good stand-still three point shooter but he seems to have poor hands, struggles to pass, can't contribute to the offense unless he's wide open from deep and/or he cleans up the occasional junk near the rim, doesn't seem to grasp the overall scheme, and can't play defense.

Teondre (IMO) has "back-up quarterback" status; he's wildly popular among fans, because fans have only seen him in glimpses and they assume he has unlimited potential. Altman sees the kid play every single day, and we obviously need more help on the perimeter. Do people think, just maybe, that if Teondre deserved more playing time, he'd get it?

I think Sim improved over last season, although that isn't saying much. I do think his minutes should go down next season with all of the shooters we have coming in. Sim is the type of player that will usually hit a few shots each half, but he isn't a game changer or consistent scorer.

And to this, I would agree wholeheartedly. People seem to forget that Sim only played 15 minutes a game last year, which is to say, he had fallen behind quite a few others in the rotation. The only reason he's playing so much now is that we lost 6 players off last year's team, and there's not much left. If Humphries was still here, he'd be getting the minutes. It's like that season where Aaron Brooks broke his hand, and Brandon Lincoln took over the point guard duties. People bitched that he wasn't as good as Brooks, and he wouldn't be starting on any other Pac-10 team. Well, no s***, y'know? The only reason they're playing the minutes they are/were is because of defections/injuries. What do people expect, the kid who fell behind the rotation last year will suddenly turn into Freddie Jones? Of course not. He's the same kid, a little better, who won't be playing the minutes he is next year when Jabari rolls into town.

I'm just making a point. Shooting 55% for one game doesn't prove anything. He shot 33% from 3point range against Arizona. He had 0 rebounds. He had 1 assist. For someone to play 35 minutes and not grab a single rebound (even for a guard) is pretty horrible.

Really the only thing Sim has done right consistently this season is shoot free throws. He only missed like 4 all year long.

The point is that I was only talking about one game, a game where Sim played pretty well. And still he has his detractors, for some reason. "Stupid Sim hitting 6 of 11 shot on Saturday! The bastard missed those three point attempts last month against UCLA, arrrggh!!" This board vs. Garrett Sim has been fascinating to observe this season. Simply fascinating.

Well, for all this Sim bashing, nobody bothers to mention that there have been quite a few games this year where he has been the only guard willing to take shots/drive to the basket. No single player is hated on more on this board than Sim and with the amount of haters for him, I've frankly seen little that shows me he deserves any of this flak. Nobody expects him to be an All Pac 10 guard and we all know his ceiling isn't that high, but when I watch him play I see a good basketball player who gets raked by people for not being something he was never going to be.

My position on Sim has always been that he's not a pac10 caliber guard.... I still stand by that.

I think it's fair to say that Altman got everything out of his players this year... And the team was still awful.....

A large part of that is because we have players on our roster that don't belong in this conference.

Outside of Seiferth, this applies to no one on the team.

How many 6-1 SG's that can't shoot and can't match up defensively are starting in the Pac10? (and this is as bad as the Pac10 has ever been)

You need to watch more cbb if you think our current roster has the talent to compete at the level it takes to be competitive in the Pac10.
