St. Johns recruiting...
With the addition of God's Gift, they will be taking 9 players this year... 6 of whom are 4 star, and includes 4 SF, a PF, and a C.
The guards are all 6'2-6'4.
Wonder how they will distribute PT?

Re: St. Johns recruiting...
I thought the NCAA had rule where you couldn't sign more than like 7 or 8 players in a single year, but maybe they've gotten rid of that rule. Them getting God's Gift does help us out since UW was sort of counting on him to fill out their class.

Or else that means UW is getting a commit from an as yet unnamed player...

Yup... Prostate cancer.

St. John's men's basketball coach Steve Lavin has been diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer, the school announced Friday.
Lavin actually received the diagnosis last fall, but will proceed with treatment in the coming weeks.
"We are pleased that through early detection we determined Coach Lavin's condition as a relatively low-grade cancer, and one that could wait for treatment until the conclusion of the basketball season," said Jonathan Schiff, a board-certified urologist in private practice in New York City. "We have spoken to Steve and his family about his options, and will proceed with a course of treatment shortly.
"I expect a complete cure of Coach Lavin's condition and we anticipate a seamless continuation of his coaching duties."

He does have good incentive to recover quickly...

With his prostate cancer, it sounds like it was found early enough for him to survive and keep coaching.

Re: St. Johns recruiting...
I've met Steve Lavin a few times (at UCLA and Oregon). He's a very personable guy and you can see why he's such a great recruiter. He loved Mac Court and told me that it was one of his favorite away arenas.
“If everybody in this room just want to be real with themselves, this game could have went either way,” he said. “We turned the ball over a lot. We beat ourself. Just be real with yourself right now. We beat ourself.”

And now they are reported to be offering 6'9" 2011 F Daouda Soumaoro... That would make 10 in this class, if he commits.

Re: St. Johns recruiting...
Lavin is basically getting a brand new team next season, save for a couple players.
