to become the 2011-2012 version of Virginia Commonwealth University?

A Final Four appearance would be quite refreshing...

Aren't they taking the team to Europe this summer too? If the team can gel on that trip this team really could make some noise next year.

ha yeah, the F4 would certainly be refreshing.

But I definitely think we'll win 20-22 games and at least put ourselves in solid position for the Tournament.

With what UO basketball looked like last year at this time, I will be happy with a 1 and done at the tourney next year, much less a F4. We where in a bad spot last year and Altman has come in and completely revamped our roster and has UO headed in the right direction, love the hire. If this first year on the job is any indication of what he and his staff will be like, I think we will be pushing UA, UCLA and UW very soon for the top spot in the Pac 12.

Well . . . some big hopes here. Obviously, any and all of that would be great. I definitely have some serious anticipation for the upcoming season, particularly with the overseas trip preceding it. In terms of "keeping it going" after this season, I'm thinking that could be an interesting challenge for Altman and staff in 2012-13, with seven seniors departing after 2011-12. But maybe the non-seniors will get a lot of minutes this year so that we'll be ok.

I want to say I agree and that 20-22 wins is dreaming big, but if you think about to eclipse the 20-win mark all you really need to do is go 10-2 OOC (and, honestly, there are 9-10 games every OOC season one should win easy) and win your conference home games/pick up a road win along the way. 10-2 before January and 10-8 in the Pac-10 gets you 20, and that's not taking into consideration picking up a win or two in the Pac-10 Tournament. Once this program gets built, I'd like to aim for 20 wins as an annual basement prediction, to be honest.

Some questions:

We don't, um, go to Duke this year, do we? I could have sworn Duke just came out here for Kyle Singler, but we didn't promise a return trip to entice them to not schedule UP again (as they did for Mike Dunleavy), did we?

Virginia is coming to Knight Arena, yes?

I think the Duke game was a one-time deal and I do think UVA comes out here this season. As for expectations this coming year, I would put at least a NCAA Tournament bid as the high mark with the NIT being more likely, due to all the new players coming in. I do think that the European tour will do wonders for everyone and that could be the factor to what pushes Oregon towards becoming a Tournament team.
