Re: Jordan Jefferson Suspect in Bar Fight
If the tigers lose Jefferson that will be a huge loss for them. I'd rather see
us beat them with there best. I know kids will be kids. But your the starting
QB for the 4th ranked team in the country. One of the favorites for the Natty.
What in the world are you doing out at a bar after curfew and getting into a
fight. But we will see what happens.

Question for Bud Lee:
Obviously nothing is set in stone with Jefferson, he could be exonerated for all we know. But, I have to ask a question about who you would want starting should Jefferson be suspended. I know Lee has the experience, but Mettenberger seems to have a lot of hype..

As an LSU fan, I hope you don't mind if I answer while we wait for Bud Lee. (he's a bit older than I am, and it takes him some time to walk to the computer)TheMaehlMan wrote:Question for Bud Lee:

I'd say Lee.
Reports from camp and even summer off season workouts were that Mettenberger needs to step it up. He CLEARLY has the talent advantage, but unfortunately, sometimes that makes young people think they don't have to work as hard.
Also, and I'll provide a link...the initial report of "arrests" has been revised to "summoned". The BRPD states they just want to get the players side of the story, as they have not interviewed them yet.

Its my guess that they will play against ducks. The situation migh be sorted out 100% few days after game vs ducks or before the game.

What in the world is the starting QB for the number 3 team doing flying down I-5 at 4AM in a car filled with marijuana smoke? Kids make bad decisions and stuff happens.duckfan22 wrote:If the tigers lose Jefferson that will be a huge loss for them. I'd rather see

Appreciate the updates. Trying to sort the legitimate media reports from the BS takes far to much time.Fishhead wrote:As an LSU fan, I hope you don't mind if I answer while we wait for Bud Lee. I appreciate the answer, and the update as well. The nice thing about Mettenberger is that as of this moment you have two guys in front of him with a lot of experience, so he has time to figure things out.
As a Duck fan who has seen many rivals run wild with accusations, I don't want you to take what I said as an indictment of Jefferson. I think we all are just waiting to hear the facts, which have not materialized just yet. Just want football to begin so we can put the off-season drama behind us.

"An undetermined number of LSU players apparently violated curfew after a 10:30 p.m. bedcheck Thursday and were involved in a brawl in the parkingl og of Shady's bar, 623 E. Boyd, near campus. Four people were injured and transported themselves to area hospitals. Baton Rouge police said 15-20 LSU players were involved but were gone by the time police arrived."Fishhead wrote:TheMaehlMan wrote:Question for Bud Lee:

Re: Jordan Jefferson Suspect in Bar Fight
I took no offense. Quite frankly, what we already DO know as fact is that Jefferson, our senior QB and alleged leader, disrespected his coaches, teammates, Louisiana State University, it's alumni, and the fans by intentionally breaking team rules with at least 4 other LSU Tigers. That, in and of itself, is enough for me to call for suspension of he and the other 3 that are implicated in this matter. The 5th is Hebert, and although it was a couple years ago, and he paid his penance, this was his second chance. Also alleged as a leader and a member of the team's Unity Council like Jefferson, he should be suspended...even if his role in the fight was peacemaker.Should have just addressed it to all LSU fans!

It is a known fact that the ones that were at the bar broke team rules. A bedcheck was performed, and all were accounted for. These guys took it upon themselves to put the whole team at a disadvantage. Not the kind I want leading the Tigers.
-
Now I hope that...if they actually broke no LAW...that they are only subject to the discipline of the coaches for breaking team rules. But I do think that team violation warrants suspension.

RT @ScarboroughMike: LSU QB Jordan Jefferson and Davenport face 2nd degree battery charges. Jarvis Landry and Josh Downs simple battery.

Re: Jordan Jefferson Suspect in Bar Fight
First, the more I learn, the more disappointed in Jefferson and the others I am becoming. I didn’t realize at first they had a curfew, and if he didn’t break team rules by violating the curfew NONE of this would of happened.
Now, when it comes to who I would like to see play, it is Lee hands down. He is faster than Jefferson and has a cannon for an arm. He has shown that he can take the team down field when needed .

Re: Jordan Jefferson Suspect in Bar Fight
How much has Lee improved? I remember Lee a couple times really forcing passes and getting intercepted, which led to Jefferson coming back in. Besides his bad decision making in several cases, I actually came away quite impressed by him.Bud Lee wrote:First, the more I learn, the more disappointed in Jefferson and the others I am becoming. That tweet has been identified as, at the very least, premature. First of all, Downs wasn't even involved. It's Josh JOHNS. And yeah, that makes a HUGE difference.gregspechtismyhero wrote:Pac-12 Blog just tweeted this:RT @ScarboroughMike: LSU QB Jordan Jefferson and Davenport face 2nd degree battery charges. <sidenote> I would like to see Downs sue that paper out of business for slander.
All this said, it's VERY possible these guys will face charges. But as of now, they are being asked to come in tomorrow to give their side of the story.

Here's my take on Lee vs Jefferson.greenyellow wrote:How much has Lee improved? I remember Lee a couple times really forcing passes and getting intercepted, which led to Jefferson coming back in. Lee started 8 games in 2008 as a RS Frosh. The offense was MUCH more of a threat, but the kid just made some TERRIBLE decisions and threw 17 ints, 7 of which were pick 6s. Last year when he came in to spell Jefferson, he played well and flat out won a couple of games for us. But there was still flashes of throwing off the back foot and poor decision making. They just didn't get picked for TDs. Hopefully Kragthorpe has been able to help him.
Jefferson came in at the end of 2008 and they just let him play. He didn't know enough of the playbook (true frosh), so he just played ball. He was effective in this role. He won the starting job the next year, but it was clear it had been pounded into his head not to force the ball. He had good stats, 17 TDs and 7 ints, decent ydg, but he took 33 sacks!! Last year, it was as if they pounded it into his head to not take sacks, but it resulted in double digit ints and fewer TDs. In either year, they didn't let him do what he does best. He does best when he's free to scramble and make plays with his legs, or pass out of a roll out. They tried to make him a pocket passer, which he will never be.
Mettenberger is the unknown at this point. He CLEARLY has the most talent, but we don't know if he has a handle on the playbook, or what kind of decisions he makes on the field in game situations.

Perfect example of why I chose not to jump to a conclusion. Josh Downs would have been a big loss, but of course the media got carried away.Fishhead wrote: That tweet has been identified as, at the very least, premature.
