Re: Jordan Jefferson Suspect in Bar Fight
All that picture really shows is that guy did in fact get pretty beat up.
Sucks that this is happening with LSU so close to the game... but if these players beat on these guys, then they need to sit for at least one game.
Really, it's simple. If you're a D-1 athlete on a championship-caliber team,
You.
Must.
Not.
Fight.
Period.
Even if everyone in the pickup was a racist redneck with a felony record, and even if they were hurling racial slurs like they were going out of style, these players have to be smart enough to just walk away. Or, when the rednecks first honked their horns, they needed to just get out of the driveway and not worry about their silly pride.
Sure, the facts aren't all out yet... I know. But it's pretty obvious there was a fight involving football players. You can't realistically suspend all 20 players (including those who didn't jump in to pull away their teammates), but you can definitely suspend the four who were dumb enough to be physically involved.
I could draw a parallel here to the LaGarrette Blount situation at Boise State. The Bronco player who came up to him, shoved him and taunted him TOTALLY had it coming... but that doesn't mean Blount should have hit him. He should have just walked away. Instead, he hit him, and he rightfully paid the price (and as an additional note, remember that Blount was never charged with any kind of crime, but Chip Kelly still sat him for most of the year).
It will be interesting to see what Les Myles will do if charges aren't filed before the game... but if any of his players were really involved in this -- and if he knows they were -- then I really hope he does the right thing.

So there's a tiger radio show announcing that Lee will be the starter.
But I would like to know why would this be considered a big loss anyways?
Statistically he was pretty awful last year... am I missing something?

Losing a senior always hurts, but I agree in that LSU wouldn't lose too much of an edge talent-wise if JJ doesn't start.
LSU still has the advantage of basically playing a home game in Texas. Having the majority of people there being LSU fans will help the confidence of whoever is under center.

Why didn't Tennessee get this kind of scrutiny over their bar fight last year when a bunch of their players beat up on one dude?

One positive (for us) is that the new guy will have 12 or so days to prepare as the starter.Boom wrote: But I would like to know why would this be considered a big loss anyways?

But tonight they showed it on the news in Baton Rouge, so he's fair game. This is the 'marine' minutes after the fight, posing for a picture.
That picture surfaced on tigerdroppings yesterday and ended up in my inbox…I thought about posting it before I left work yesterday but I wanted to wait until I could confirm it was him…and it is.
My first thought on seeing that pic was that the guy looks like a skinny John Cena…my second thought is that the dude pride probably is more hurt then he is, looks like a broken nose maybe. Though, if I remember correctly a broken nose is enough for 2nd degree battery.

Well, the thing is the two have two completely different styles. I love Lee so I’m good with him starting but I would think that if he is named the starter the Tigers game plan must be altered slightly, thus negating some of what we have already done to prep.
Meh…he is a four year player with play time including starts under his belt, it want be that challenging for him to step up. At least not as challenging as it would be for Mett. One positive (for us) is that the new guy will have 12 or so days to prepare as the starter.
Absolutely agree…unless it was in self defense you should never fight…here they placed themselves in a position to get in trouble which is my problem with it.Really, it's simple. If you're a D-1 athlete on a championship-caliber team,

Would Lee be the starter? The media seems to think that Mett would be. And I don't think that this alters the ducks game plan much. It isn't like they have had much to go off of since LSU has a new offense this year anyways.

My source just said Chip is officially back!
It will be announced at Autzen press conference tomorrow afternoon!

I would be shocked it Mett started in this game…I can see him being put in for a series if things are going bad, but I have no doubt in my mind that Lee will be the starter if Jefferson is suspended.karlhungis wrote:Would Lee be the starter? Update:
Cops are meeting with said players. Also, BRPD states that they have a video that was shot from a nearby business. They're not releasing the video "at this time".
BRPD claiming that arrests are likely, following interviews.

Re: Jordan Jefferson Suspect in Bar Fight
I'm sure Lee will be the starter if JJ sits. Amazing that most LSU fans have been down on JJ for two years, but now we're worried that he won't play. The one thing he offers that Lee doesn't his his ability to run with the ball--that's not in Lee's arsenal. I think the entire complexion of the game changes if JJ is the idiot he may be and participated in that fight.
Check out the fight thread on Tigerdroppings. There are other pics of that victim's mug shot on a previous arrest, among other things.
Still counting down...11 days, 8 hours, 0 minutes...is this enough time to get out on bail??

If JJ sits, the guy who would have thrown the brainless interception to Cliff Harris, who is sitting, is out. Is this an even swap?
