Calling it early; Singler > Moser
If Singler gets to meet up with Moser, I'll take EJ thank you. (actually I was calling it last yr)
Singler has not gotten his due.
I was on this board last yr. talking about EJ and was told by a N. Medford fan that EJ was outplayed by low level high school kids last yr and that N. Medford would match up easily with him; Well, here we are and EJ was 3-0 vs. N. Medford - where is that poster ???
EJ will be one of the hardest workers on the team next yr. Teondre, Longmire, + EJ = ENERGY !!
good luck to Moser at UCLA but I like EJ for the Ducks.

Re: Calling it early; Singler > Moser
Sorry, but I've seen this kid play a few times too. He really is not better than Moser. I hate to rain on a parade for a future duck, but this just isn't true. He's a very good player in the SWC. That's not saying all that much. I'd be surprised if he becomes a consistent starter before his senior year, maybe his junior year. I could be wrong and I hope I am, but I don't see what you see in him.

Re: Calling it early; Singler > Moser
I'll give you this: Duck fans should be more excited about Singler, because he is very talented. I feel like not much talk has been made about him.
However, Moser is NBA quality. If his game reaches his full potential, he will be an NBA player one day. He's got great length, and is very athletic. Your typical SF/PF.

Re: Calling it early; Singler > Moser
Moser went to my High School last year and i watched him and Paul McCoy (SMU) pick apart every team on their way to a State Title at Mac Court. He's good, his abilities to shoot the three and finish at the rim, helps him dominate in games, and will lead him into a soild college career at UCLA. Also at 6'8 he's taller than Singler, I would Take Moser in this match up, however i think either Lake-O, or Jesuit, will beat Grant in the second round.

If you go strictly by the head to head there SO and JR years both times EJ outplayed him stat wise, with SM winning 1, in playoffs 2 yrs ago and Grant winning 1 in last years LSI. Both have been lucky enough to win a state title though I think Ej has a easier path to the state title game this year. Honestly neither can say they have a NBA game, if Moser was that good he would be a McAA.

on a side note, we need more threads like this to get some good debates going on around here.. Without football, this place is a little slow.

Agreed TK I'd just wish I could join the debate because I haven't seen either play but EJ sounds great for our team!

Re: Calling it early; Singler > Moser
Are those the only stats you're talking about? That they've won an equal amount of championships? Because Kyle Singler was the reason South Medford did anything two years ago, not EJ. Whereas last year Moser was the playmaker for Grant. Maybe you're also talking about ppg and rpg and other individual stats, and in that case I'll give you the benefit of the doubt because I haven't looked into that. But if all you're going off of is number of championships, then your argument is focused on a stat that doesn't really matter.buckmarkduck wrote:If you go strictly by the head to head there SO and JR years both times EJ outplayed him stat wise, with SM winning 1, in playoffs 2 yrs ago and Grant winning 1 in last years LSI. And Grant probably has a better chance at winning it this year than S Medford just based on talent, but you never know.

Re: Calling it early; Singler > Moser
No I'm talking head to head stats. In the LSI last year even though SM lost to Grant Ej took it to Moser all night long just Ej had no help.
EJ Singler - 31 pts, 6 reb, 2 blk, 2 stl
Mike Moser - 15 pts, 12 reb, 4 ast, 4 blk, 1 stl
EJ Singler - 31 pts, 6 reb, 2 blk, 2 stl
Mike Moser - 15 pts, 12 reb, 4 ast, 4 blk, 1 stl

Sorry, Moser > Singler
I have only watched them play a few times, but IMO Singler just doesn't look that athletic for a pac 10 player. I think he will struggle getting his shot off. I think at best he will be a pick and pop type player similar to Marty Leunen. Except I don't think he will be as good of a rebounder as Marty. I also think he will struggle defensively against other forwards in the pac 10, but I guess are zone defense can hide that.

Re: Calling it early; Singler > Moser
I've had the chance to see both teams play in AAU basketball and IMO thats where you want to judge these players. they were playing in the same even that had something like 30 of the top 150 players in the nation all in the same gym so the talent level was up there.
Mike Moser reminded me of a guy who as the game is going on he didn't seem like he was doing much. Rebound here. Tip in there. Post up jump shot here. Steal there. Assist there. Nothing too drastic or eye popping. Then you see the stat line the next game or in the paper and you notice he ended up with 16 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 blocks. And you are left scratching your head asking yourself where did that all come from? He doens't score in bunches but instead over the course of the entire game where you don't notice is. Can play the 3 and the 4 really well. I think he could play some center down the road but he will need to bulk up. Really long but really skinny too. He wont be a player that comes right in and dominates however.
EJ Singler was his team. They had talent but it was clear if they were going to win he needed to play well. I saw him play against Reebok's national team and he did really well. Scored in bunches for his points. Can hit the outside J just as good as he can finish around the rim. Very smart player as he knows where the ball is going to go right after it hits the rim. Not the most athletic player but he knows how to use angles and position to his defense and get the ball. He was greatly overmatched in athletic ability but seemed to get the ball most of the time when he was near it. Also a very deceptive shot blocker. I saw him block 3 shots in one possesion. I'd compare him to a more athletic AD Smith that has a high IQ and a poor mans Luke Jackson where hes' not as athletic or dominate.

Re: Calling it early; Singler > Moser
I would have been very happy landing Moser but we got EJ and as mops pointed out above they both have something to offer! They are obviously different types of players and its too bad we couldn't have both!
I think a better argument is... Who is better Moser or Wilson? And from what I read Wilson seems the better by far...yes/no?

EJ is in a close match with Lincoln @ the moment, last time i checked the score was 62-60 South Medford, with around 2 minutes left in the 4th.

OH Marshmallows! Looks like Lincoln is up by 5 with 47 seconds left, i don't think EJ can pull it out.
