So were is Miss St. suppose to finish this year in the SEC?
I see that they won 9 games last year, but that was without a marquee win.

Mississippi State is not good, don't have the talent to compete with the top of the SEC. Watching this game made me realize how badly Oregon choked the game away. I can't wait to see Oregon play another elite team, hopefully next time Chip will go all out, stop being conservative, and that will cause the players to play comfortable.

I definitely think our ceiling is a lot higher than LSU's... I expect us to get better each week and into a BCS bowl game.
LSU's defense is going to have to score points for their team to beat some of the better teams of their league.

Well the problem is they play in the west...so they have to play Auburn, LSU, Bama, and Arky…I think most had them to finish behind Bama and LSU. So that would put them third in the west. To be honest with you I was very worried about this game. State has a real good squad. I wouldn’t be surprise if they won out, or only lose one more in SEC play.Boom wrote:So were is Miss St. suppose to finish this year in the SEC?

uh..huh
uhm...no...the only team in the SEC west that has been throwing up points is Bama...and they only put up what...23 against Penn? Penn’s D is nowhere near as talented as LSU's…and the other game was against a VERY weak opponent.I definitely think our ceiling is a lot higher than LSU's... In the SEC you don't need to score 40+ to win...you just need a D that will keep the other guy for scoring 40. Besides…or offense is improving every week too..and we just held a team that was 8th in the nation in rushing until this week to what…60 yards? True those numbers are bloated considering they played Memphis as their opener…but they ran Auburn down to the wire too.
And this may just be the beer in me talking sh*t…but we the W against you…so your ceiling is only higher than ours if we drop two…until then…we have cathedrals and you got a standard.
ETA: My B....State was ranked 6th and we held them to 52...sorry for putting out the wrong stats...333 of their rushing yards were against those other tigers BTW

Can't see msu beating bama. BUT they have until November to figure something out. Their offense is very bland and predictable. It works against weak defenses(Auburn/Memphis), but it won't against someone like lsu/bama. It even clicked a bit against lsu, but they are such a force, it wasn't difficult for them to rebound if they blew a long 3rd down conversion.
Mullen falls to 2-10 in the sec west.

Stats are meaningless at this point...
From watching the last 2 games... I think you guys will have a really really hard time scoring against Bama.
Yes your defense is amazing... but your offense is way to predictable (at this point).
Not really sure what you're trying to say here.... but ya you were the better team on the opener.... but that doesn't mean you will be the better team at the end of the year.Bud Lee wrote:And this may just be the beer in me talking sh*t…but we the W against you…so your ceiling is only higher than ours if we drop two…until then…we have cathedrals and you got a standard.

I think we still have a lot of question marks though...Yeah LSU's offense is predictable and will never put up huge yards but we are playing walk ons at WR, our star RB still hasn't played great, our D-Line allowed a ton of yards to Nevada.....It's possible we end up as a top 3-5 team but we got a lot to fix whereas at least LSU knows what they are

LSU definitely has the best defense in the country and is good as defense that I've seen in a while.

I’m not sure either…drunken banter…pay no mind. Not really sure what you're trying to say here.... but ya you were the better team on the opener.... but that doesn't mean you will be the better team at the end of the year.
Everyone has problems scoring against Bama…the good news is, everybody has problems scoring against us too. From watching the last 2 games... I think you guys will have a really really hard time scoring against Bama.

True..but it is working. As my old ball coach use to tell me, 3 ½ yards a play is all you need. If you can pound it down the filed with the same plays over and over, keep doing until they show they can stop you.

Actually 2 1/2 yards a play will work if you have CK sized stones.Bud Lee wrote:I’m not sure either…drunken banter…pay no mind. Not really sure what you're trying to say here.... but ya you were the better team on the opener.... but that doesn't mean you will be the better team at the end of the year.

Bud, you mentioned you'd like to see a game at Autzen. Would you only make the trip if LSU was playing?
