Texas going to pull upset.

Post by Student265 »

Her is half of why I think it is possable...
OU rushing attack vs Texas rushing defense summery:

OU averages 3.27 yards per rushing attempt. They were held just under that by FSU (1st in rushing defense in the ACC) and rushed for just over that against Missouri (4th in rushing defense in Big12). OU was ale to rush for slightly more yards per rush then both FSU and Missouri had on average.

Texas gives up an average of 3.75 yards per rushing attempt. They gave up more then that vs. UCLA (3rd in rushing in PAC12) and held Iowa St (8th in Big12) to just under. Texas held both UCLA and Iowa St under both their average yards per rushing attempt, but just barely.

Oklahoma rushing attack vs Texas Rushing Defense conclusion:

Both teams look average when looking at Texas’s rushing defense or Oklahoma’s rushing offense. Oklahoma rushed for less then their average against a quality rush defense in FSU and Texas allowed over their average (allowed) when faced against a quality rushing attack in UCLA. With both looking average in the categories being judged, it seems likely that both teams will end up around their average in yards forced and yards allowed per rushing attempt. A more detailed breakdown is below in “*OU rushing offense vs TX rushing defense.”

Oklahoma will average around 3.6 yards per attempt.

OU passing vs TX passng defense summery:
Oklahoma has completed 71% of 38 passing attempts per game, and throwing for 4TD’s and 4INT’s in 2 games. They have faced two of the worst passing defenses in the Big12 and ACC in Missouri and FSU. In both of those matches Oklahoma completed just about what those two teams allow on average. Oklahoma also threw for 4 INT’s in those two games as well, accounting for BOTH FSU’s and Missouri’s only 2INT’s that each team has against a BCS opponent.

Texas has only allowed opponents to complete 51% of 39 passing attempts per game, giving up only 1TD, and forcing 4INT’s in 2 games. They have faced two of the worst passing attacks in the Big12 and PAC12 in Iowa St and UCLA. However, Texas was able to hold both those teams well below their average completion percentage and accounted for all 3 of UCLA’s INT’s and 1 out of 4 of Iowa St’s.

OU passing vs. Texas passing defense conclusion:
While OU has given completed about the average of what the defenses faced allow (despite how high), Texas has held both teams well below what they have allowed on averaged. Also, While OU thrown for almost all the INT’s their opponents have gotten this year, the Texas defense has accounted for almost all of the INT’s their opponents have thrown this year. OU has completed 70% of passing attempts against bad passing defenses and Texas has only allowed 51% of passes to be completed against bad passing offenses. I believe they will meet in the middle.

Look for Oklahoma to complete around 60% of their passes and throw at least 1 INT.

Overall conclusion for Oklahoma’s offense vs. Texas’s defense:
Oklahoma has averaged 30pts per game against BCS teams. Due to Oklahoma only being able to say at average rushing the ball, falling below their average throwing ball, and playing in Texas, they will score slightly below their average…around 28pts.

Got 5 more pages of data...lets see what happens..

Texas looks nothing like a top 15 team. Oklahoma is having their way with them on offense and defense.

Texas hasn't played anyone. Voters are so anxious to get them back up to top 10 based on name recognition. Not surprised at all if they lose by 35.

Texas isn't any good and why they are getting blown out....and I love it of course I don't like to see a Stoops team win either.

Yep...might have overestimated Texas's ability to to Pound the ball. I figured Oklahoma would complete around 60% of their passes, but I really thought Texas would be able to work the clock better by being able keep it on the ground. Wow...5 TO's...back to the drawing board..

UCLA is that bad though lol.

As far as Texas, they are benefitting from a very easy schedule early on. What was their best win...BYU? They have 6-7 wins written all over them. Oklahoma, however looks really good. I would love to have WR's with the skill that the OU guys have. Broyles, Stills, whoever #16 is (I'm too lazy to look)...yeesh.

Don’t feel bad…I was 64% against the spread until this week (went 2 and 8), we all have our bad weeks.
