LSU sophomores Spencer Ware and Tyrann Mathieu will be suspended for Saturday's game against Auburn after reportedly failing a drug test, a source told The Daily Reveille on Wednesday.

The suspensions could turn into multiple-game suspensions as well.

The original Tweet included the names of 3 players (Mathieu, [DB Tharold] Simon, and Ware), but has been deleted and replaced since then.

Simon had 6 total tackles, and an interception against the Ducks.

Doesn't sound good for them, but I think they can still beat Auburn without those 2. If they're out for Alabama, then I think LSU is screwed.

I'm hoping that it is just a little recreational drug issue and not steroids. The former would just be a team violation the later would be a NCCA issue, unless I'm mistaking...which is possible, it has happened before.

If it is an NCAA issue, would LSU have to "Vacate" the earlier portion of the season? I know it wouldn't help any of the teams they have defeated, but the whole thing would reek for the rest of the team.

Baton Rouge - Cornerbacks Tyrann Mathieu and Tharold Simon, and running back Spencer Ware will be suspended for Saturday's game against Auburn, and possibly further, a source close to the situation confirmed to The Times Picayune.

Another source said the players tested positive for synthetic marijuana.
Ware is the teams's leading rusher with 512 yards and six touchdowns on 128 carries. Mathieu was LSU's leading tackler until last week and has two interceptions, three fumble recoveries and four forced fumbles. Simon is the Tigers third cornerback who plays in nickel situations.
Alfred Blue and Michael Ford are the Tigers next two running backs. Senior Ron Brooks would be the likely replacement at cornerback.

Well…not this week…it will be Jenkins and Brooks knocking Dryer around in the secondary (if he makes it pass Big Sam and company) this week. I’m sure all suspended will be back after the bye for Bama though.
