Bryce Brown Request

Post by Mops »

Today is the day Bryce Brown commits. On other recruiting sites some teams still involved in this process or were in involved have made fools of themselves regarding their take on Bryce Brown. If Brown for some reason goes away from Oregon I hope we don't make a fool our selves by callimg him a fake or some other form of we didnt need him anyways. Lets keep it civil here. Win or lose.

Yeah, I'd urge people to look at it this way:

Missing out on Brown just means we'll be delaying the arrival of a blue chip back by 1 year. With Blount and James here, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Especially considering the tremendous strength of the '10 RB class, and the amount of elite prospects that have us on their radar. Landing Bryce takes away a slot for those guys, and would likely prompt a few of those vying for another slot to look elsewhere. In other words, the road we go down without Bryce could quite possibly be preferable in the end.

With Kelly at the helm, it's obvious that we'll be amply stocked with top level talent at the RB position for the foreseeable future. Bryce Brown is just one in a large pool of RB's and QB's who are fascinated with Kelly's offense. With that in mind, it should be easy to take Bryce's decision for what it is without attaching the fate of our program to it.

Really? Not landing the number 1 prospect in the nation would be preferable? Are you serious? Or are you just trying to talk yourself into it? If its the latter I completely understand

1. a pt. of can 1 .
–auxiliary verb
2. (used to express possibility): I wonder who that could be at the door. That couldn't be true.
3. (used to express conditional possibility or ability): You could do it if you tried.
4. (used in making polite requests): Could you open the door for me, please?
5. (used in asking for permission): Could I borrow your pen?
6. (used in offering suggestions or advice): You could write and ask for more information. You could at least have called me.

1. perhaps; maybe: It may possibly rain today.
2. in a possible manner: She has all the money she can possibly use.
3. by any possibility: Could you possibly check this information for me?

Not sure how you interpreted those two words as "would," but this should clear things up.

The point I was making was that Oregon fans' reaction to missing on Brown should reflect reality rather than the notion that he is our savior and that missing on him means missing out on other big things. Think of landing Brown as making a withdrawal from the bank for a down payment on a car. If we leave that money there, it'll still be there next year for next year's model. Either way, we're getting a shiny new car. That's the way I think reasonable Duck fans should view it.

Of course I want Brown. There are no guarantees about next year, and he is an absolutely outstanding talent. I'm just saying that we'll be an elite offense regardless of where he goes, and that for all we know, the path that doesn't involve him may end up being preferable. Unfortunately, we'll never know. You ask me which path I take if given the choice? No hesitation I take Bryce and never look back. That's a no-brainer as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think Brown is a fake. That isn't going to change if he chooses another school.

But, I don't think it's ever been a matter of "we need him." He would be a great fit at a great time. But, if he goes elsewhere, it sounds like there are some other great prospects waiting in the wings.

And therein lies the problem... these guys want to feel needed, they want to be the missing piece that makes the team complete. No we don't need him and that's why I think he goes to either UT or KSU where in both cases he is desparately needed.

Yes, we have Ethan Grant so far, but just because a lot of RB's are interested next year doesn't mean we'll get any of them. Not trying to be negative, but I'm no longer going to believe someone is all ours.

If he signs with Tenn, I will side with the K-state fans and claim it is only because his parents forced him to Tenn. It is obvious he wanted either Oregon or K-state. It's is just hard to get that older gen to forget about Elvis Presley and that whole music city thingy.

I will not cry foul on this one or say do not need him but can not escape fact that if he chooses Tennessee or Kansas State we do know parents had a role in it. I do not think we need him if we get Blount back. Speaking of him.. i heard yesterday on news he is still suspended indefnitely. What seems to be going on with him. I have not heard anything bout him since the suspension.

We didn't need him per say I guess, but we surely wanted him and he's going to be a special player.
