UGA
Pretty fortunate schedule this year. The three teams they miss in conference are Bama, LSU, and Arkie. They played Florida without their QB and lost to the two good teams they have played.

Re: UGA
It wasn't mutual. They hired a new AD and he cancelled any and all remotely difficult games that they had scheduled for the future. He wanted to make every game his decision and not have any leftover from the previous regime.

Re: UGA
It's too bad. My cousin is a UGA alum and really liked how Damon Evans (the former AD until he resigned after a DUI) would schedule tough games like that (he scheduled West Virginia back when they were at their peak too). My brother and other cousin were trying to plan a trip down to Athens for the game down there so it really sucked when the series was cancelled. My cousin said that the new AD worked in Florida's AD for a while (though the new AD does have Georgia ties through his family) and as a result he wasn't all too shocked when Georgia cancelled all the tough OOC games that were scheduled.

My nephew and wife are Phds at Georgia it took him three years to get tickets to the games there even as a assistant prof. His wife told me most all the women wear full dinner gowns to the games. The men all have bow ties, white shirts and slacks with a row of little bull dawgs down the side. Tailgating is formal sit down dinners.

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or serious, but if true that shows how much different the South is...soduck wrote:My nephew and wife are Phds at Georgia it took him three years to get tickets to the games there even as a assistant prof. Re: UGA
No sarcasm. His wife grew up near Dayton a Buck Eye Fan near theOSU. She said she wore jeans, but she was one of less than 10% of the women not wearing a dress / skirt and heels. I asked her what about the red neck/blue collar fans. She said few had tickets to games mostly all the season tickets are sold out, completely by alums. Hence sorority girls and frat boys and the formality of dress. She said many former greek alums did their tailgatng at sit down meals. She said the rednecks come and tailgate, but just watch in the parking lot without tickets. She said they had to past parking on day of game only restrictions because so many fans started tailgating the day before games. It was great gloating at Xmas before the Natty to a buckeye fan and of course she talked trash about the SEC, which of course hates theOSU, too.

Re: UGA
However, it does appear Georgia isn't quite as genteel as portrayed...
North Campus pigs have ruined tailgating at UGA
As many fans had feared, the pigs who continued to trash UGA’s North Campus on football Saturdays despite warnings from the school’s administration have pretty much killed off tailgating as it’s traditionally known in that area.
