I'm still not convinced voters are going to put us above Alabama, which is absolute crap. Alabama lost at home and only lost a few spots in the polls... we lost to LSU in a "neutral location" and dropped like 10 or 11 spots. The fact we're even behind Alabama at all is complete BS.

We're going to have to maul USC to have any chance of impressing voters enough.

Or, we can hope that voters grow some brain cells and realize it makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE for a team that doesn't win its own conference to play for a national title.

Y'all drop that much because it was week one and there was no other indicator of the quality team that y'all have. Bama played a lot of teams at that point and every knew what they where.

I expect that if y'all put up a good game against USC...jumping Bama will happen this week considering Bama plays a weak opponent.

2) Oregon
3) Bama
4) Oklahoma

Y'all drop that much because it was week one and there was no other indicator of the quality team that y'all have. Bama played a lot of teams at that point and every knew what they where.

If Oregon had the same amount of respect that a team like Alabama has (and after Auburn barely escaped against us in the Natty, we should have that respect), then I don't think we would have dropped nearly as much as we did. LSU certainly had the nation's respect, being picked by many as the preseason favorite to win it all. Seems like some voters just looked at the final score, thought, "eh, looks like LSU whipped Oregon," then cast us away... without even considering the Ducks were well within their comfort zone until those two freakish back-to-back third quarter fumbles.

Regardless, I'll be totally happy with a trip to the Rose Bowl this year. I'm not terribly excited about a second road game of the year against LSU, which is about as far as possible as our fans could be asked to travel, not to mention the advantage that gives to LSU. That said, I fully believe we could win (just as we could have in Week 1), and more than anything, I simply do not believe a team that doesn't win its own conference (or division) should be allowed to play for the national championship. No matter how good that non-champion team is, how can you possibly be a national champion if you're not the champion of your own conference (or division)? IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE!!!

Imagine if when the NBA finals started, David Stern had said to the Dallas Mavericks, "Hey, you guys are playing some good basketball right now, but we REALLY think the Chicago Bulls are the better team... so even though they lost to the Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals, I'm just going to go ahead and give them your spot in the NBA finals... but hey, congrats on winning the west!"

The notion that Alabama should be in the title game without winnings its conference/division is batshit crazy!

I hope you're right Bud, but I really doubt the human polls put us ahead of Alabama, for the simple reason that they played LSU closer than we did.
