Boise has a river running through town with parks and bike paths all along the river. World class whitewater just north of town. Top-notch skiing, fishing and hunting close by. It is a great place for outdoor recreation if you're into that.

Honestly a much better representation. Most of the people that whine about LA immediately jump to the crowded downtown part. And completely ignore all of the various beautiful beaches right next to it.

Mmm, not really. I have been to plenty of different beaches plenty of times with hardly anyone there. And if you know how to navigate around LA, traffic is not NEARLY as bad as some people make it out to be. With the exception of some areas obviously.
