You know…we always get a bad rap for playing one of our non-conference games in November, especially since we make sure it is one of the creampuffs…but I just call that smart. If you are playing 4 OOC games and two – three of them are going to be a softy....why not play one of them in November to give your boys a easy week in the middle of conference play?

Considering recent history…seems to be a system that works.

Wow….that is a big move. Should really help with strength of schedule.

For which conference? Iowa at Oregon, Indy at USC, ... Not all will be that great for match ups.
I picture this in making 1 or 2 less Pac teams eligible for post season games, about like it would do to the SEC if they all played 9 conference games and a tenth against another major conf. team.

We could use that system to our advantage here - play the other 5 teams in the North then 7 easy non conf games. The entire Pac 12 could have 7-12 wins and all be in the top 25.

Well, all things considered, the P12 needs to cut out the 9th conference game, even more so with this new collaboration. I also believe that this will cut out the argument that a lot of ticket-paying customers had about dropping the 9th conference game because it meant we'd go get a Fresneck St level of opponent or worse. Now we don't have to worry about getting top 25 teams to come to Autzen to play so season ticket holders shouldn't have too much of a problem with 8 conference games, 2 patsies, a middle of the pack team (or another top 25 team) and a visit from Urban Meyer in a couple of years.

That scenario makes it a whole lot easier for the conference to produce more bowl-eligible teams which in turns helps boost conference prestige/perception. Don't forget that we also need to WIN these yearly match-ups against the B10 so bringing up our bottom teams makes sense.

I'm just glad that we'll start getting some good teams in Autzen again. Just imagine coach Frost in a couple of years as the Head Coach at Nebraska coming into Autzen. Medford's head might explode!
