You do realize that Zach Taylor started every game this year & was great for us right? That was hardly a wasted schollie.
He was far from great. The long snaps this year were inconsistent at best. And furthermore, it's not that hard of a skill to learn. We could've just taught one of the linemen already on scholarships how to long snap and we save a scholarship. It was a wasted schollie (sorry Zach)
I can't recall a single punt snap that cost us at all, hardly inconsistent. I would love to see any coach's reaction (laughter) if you told him any ol' lineman could be taught to longsnap and it isn't a very hard skill to learn.
Agreed. That was an ignorant comment.

Coming from someone who actually knows how to long snap (so probably less ignorant than most people), it's not difficult. Just takes some practice and coaching like everything else. But it can be done by non-specialists. And I remember bad snaps. If you don't, whatever

Agreed. There were a TON of bad snaps. Anyone remember the BSU game? Missed FGs & PATs all had terrible snaps. If we would have made those we would have won. Almost every missed FG started with a bouncing snap from Zach Taylor. He eventually lost his snapping job at some point in the season. Saying the long-snapping was fine last year is pretty dumb, saying it's an easy thing to do is even dumber.

I'm saying there were bad snaps, so not sure why you're quoting me. And it's easy enough that it's better to teach someone than waste a schollie just for the snaps. I'm saying even if Taylor had been a great snapper (which he wasn't), he wouldn't of been worth a schollie for a specialty position that CAN be taught.

Back to the topic at hand, WOW that was very encouraging. He couldn't have finished the interviewer any clearer on his intentions on where he wants to play. I hate the fact there are so little scholarships this year, it seems there are just too many kids interested and not enough space. I think a bigger back is needed more than Brown, but then again is USC is looking at him he is legit. A smaller back like him to go along with Grant and a bigger back is ideal.

I was quoting you to say I agreed with you but I forgot to do just that  . I edited my original post so maybe it will make sense now.

Ya, but it would be encouraging if he had an offer yet. I love his enthusiasm, but the offer list speaks a lot about a player, and his lack of one says we probly don't have room this year. Just speculating tho

I really like him...Runs really well in traffic and has great vision...Seems to break tackles well for a little guy...Not too sure of the talent level of the opponents but he reminds me a lot of JJ

I have to laugh at the comments here about the kid not having an offer list in March  . s***, we offered kids on signing day this year that headed to Northern Iowa before we swooped in. This kid is getting looks at this juncture by good schools. We could easily whiff on these high profile running backs. I say we take a serious look at him.

There's a video of him on his rivals profile, you guys should check it out.

He's a very shifty runner. And he is definitely athletic as you'll see him jumping over guys and breaking tackles.

I have those guns, as well. They are much easier to maintain than the other type, IMO.

Back on subject... Brown does have some nice moves, and seems to have football speed, rather than track speed.

All the 4.3/4.4s in the world don't help if the brain isn't able to put it into the right use.
