I think preseason polls are not worth much...but here it is.

I still don't get SC at 1. Lot of talent but depth is gonna be a huge issue for them

Good, one thing my dad always told me (FSU alum), you never want to be ranked #1. It'll always bite you.

USC has 17-18 returning starters and one the best qb's in college football, plus they looked pretty damn good to close out last season. They have question marks at LT, RB and DT but if they stay healthy they will be right up there in the discussion. November 3rd is shaping up to be the biggest day in college football this season with Alabama traveling to LSU and Oregon at USC.

USC should roll through the South Division and has Oregon at home. Not sure they are #1, but somebody has to be.
Oregon top 10 material. Not sure about top 5.
Georgia is 5 spots too high.
I'd put OK State at 10-15 without even knowing who their QB is. They have come a long way in terms of talent and speed.
Notre Dame should be napalmed and not spoken of again.
Maybe Nebraska is a few spots low.
Stanford could be right at the 15 spot, but with stellar QB play this year, 10 seems reasonable.
Until someone can beat LSU and Bama, other than LSU and Bama, they should get top honors.
Ohio State is really difficult to place. Great coach, new system, not bowl eligible, 20 seems reasonable enough.

Boise State??? Big shoes to fill @ Qb and RB so I'm not sold on a top 25 for them.

I'm kinda of bitter n sweet that SC is at the #1 spot. IMO because they will have that pressure of not making any mistakes or losing to like say a Utah at home or whatever, just saying. Because if they slip up it will be a season ending deal IMO.

I don't have any problem with USC at one like some do, not saying there the best team by far but I think they have a great team. I think the ducks are a little too high with an unproven qb, and Bama and LSU always have incredible players so I'm sure they will end up near the top. I believe Oregon was ranked in the preseason in the top five last year and finish in the top five, would take that now and run.

I don't think USC is the best team in the nation, but when you look around, no other team is head and shoulders above the competition either. I'd personally have the defending champs as the #1 to start the season, but these polls mean little until half-way into the season. I will say it's great to see USC back at the top....where they belong.

I like the top 5 definitely. USC returns most of their starters and the best QB/WRs in the country - by far.
But I don't see how Alabama can be ahead of Oregon. They lost their ENTIRE defense. Yeah, they also lost the only offensive player they had last year too, but there offense was crap anyways. Alabama will be good be they won't be better than Oregon if the Ducks can replace the starters they lost.

It is important to note that this is a ESPN poll….the coaches polls and the AP polls won’t be out until like 4 weeks before the season opens up (I think) so until then it is no telling who will start out as #1....sigh...who am I kidding...it will be Bama

Re: College Football Live: 2012 Top 25
At first look I don't think we should be a top 5 team. We have little depth at RB, no proven WR's and don't know our starting QB yet.....that being said I think this year is a lot like last year. There are 5-10 really good teams but maybe only 2-3 great teams. I'd put Oregon at 5 but a weak #5 as compared to most seasons

Plus, they have a man (who is 40) coaching them.
