Two more offers for McConico
Compton (Calif.) running back James McConico picked up two new offers in the last week. The talented back has been tearing it up on the track as well and is poised for a big spring/summer. McConico is one of the state's most explosive backs and just clocked a 10.5-100m a week ago.
"Coach (Tony) White at San Diego State and Coach (R. Todd) Littlejohn at New Mexico State both offered scholarships," Compton coach Calvin Bryant said. "He's at nine and should hit double digits pretty soon here.
"James is working really hard in track and I think it's going to help him in football. He's bigger and faster than last season and were going to rely on him a lot more next year."
Oregon and Colorado were the first to offer the athlete and Washington, San Jose State, Arizona State, Nebraska and Arizona have all followed suit.

Timu is a major talent
One of the state's best players who no one talks about is Long Beach Jordan (Calif.) two-way standout John Timu. Timu is one of the most versatile players in the region and could play on either side of the ball in college.
I first saw Timu at the SoCal Nike Camp a year ago and he was easily among the top receivers in attendance. As a rising junior, he was overshadowed some by a few bigger name seniors but his overall hands, body control and athleticism were as good as anyone's at the camp.
Timu then went out and had a big junior season earning Moore League MVP honors, which considering the Moore league boast players from Long Beach Poly, Lakewood and Compton, that's saying something. Timu has the ability to play safety or receiver in college and is getting looks as an athlete right now. He picked up early offers from Hawaii and Oregon and is also hearing from
"Right now, I like Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, UCLA and Arizona," Timu said. "I'm open though and don't plan to make an early commitment anywhere. I want to take some visits first before I do anything."

NorCal DB lands offer No. 1
Terrance Mitchell (Sacramento, Calif./ Burbank) is one of the state's top defensive backs. He recently picked up his first scholarship offer and could be close on a few more as well.
Mitchell played on both sides of the ball last year but projects as a corner in college. He racked up 74 tackles and five interceptions on defense, to go with 1,500 all purpose yards on the offensive side of the ball.
"Jody Sears at Washington State offered Terrance," Mitchell's father Terrance Sr. said. "We are also talking with Josh Gibson at Oregon and Demetrice Martin at Washington and something could happen there."
Mitchell added that the family took a recent unofficial visit to USC and the Trojans are showing interest as is Cal and UCLA.
