Malcolm Jones on ESPN blog

Post by greenyellow »

It doesn't look too good for landing Malcolm Jones. Here's an update from Greg Biggins' recruiting blog at ESPN:

"Jones has two on top

Running back Malcolm Jones (Westlake Village, Calif./ Oaks Christian) has a solid top five at the moment, but two schools stand out at this time.

Jones, among the top backs nationally, is a two-time All-State underclass selection and will be a four-year starter for the Lions. He rushed for 1,543 yards and 26 touchdowns last season to go with 500 yards receiving and four more scores.

Arizona, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Oregon and Colorado are just a few of the schools that have offered Jones, but a pair of Pac 10 schools lead the way right now.

"I like UCLA and Stanford," Jones said. "I've been to both schools and have a nice comfort level at each place. Both schools have a nice combination of academics and football and I like the coaching staffs at both places as well. Texas, USC and Ohio State are the others high on my list, but I'm still waiting on an offer from Texas and Ohio State right now. I'm not in a rush to make a decision right now though. Just whenever it feels right, I'll commit but it's not something I see happening any time soon."

Jones will be yet another of the state's talented running backs who will be in attendance at the upcoming Nike Camp at USC in two weeks."

Notice he's been to both of those schools. Let's get him up here for a visit before we make any conclusions. There's a long ways to go. I still feel like Furd is the school to beat though.

Somebody give him Rick Neuheisel's record with running backs. Has he ever had a 1,000 yard rusher?

I can't say that I am excited to see that Slick Rick is on top. It makes me think that it will be an uphill battle for this kid.
