Osu drops blackouts at games

Because last time too many students painted themselves black and wore afro wigs.

Clownzano had a good response to this yesterday, basically mentioning how the UO (and others) is able to do this sans problems and that it was a teachable moment and a way to let students know that that sort of behavior/actions aren't acceptable.

I'd really hope a black student would dress up in white face to show how idiotic people can be. The irony would probably be lost on most but I'd buy the person a beer!

Why is dressing as a black person for a blackout considered "racist"? Doesn't there have to be something negative involved for it to be "racist"? It's not like the university asked for people to come as "idiots" & people dressed up as a black person ha. They're simply acknowledging that black people are.... black. Society is so scared of political correctness they can't even use common sense.

Looks like ASU isn't afraid to tout the "Blackout The Duck". I find it humorous that they put their logo first, then UO so it must have been a student that has no clue about visitor logo first, then home team. I guess I assume that everybody knows that.

HMmm... Perhaps a knee jerk reaction to the days in the latter part of the early Civil Rights movement, when CornVally still had a "Sundowner Law" on the books?

Ah well if that's what the OS students were referencing in their dressing up as black people then I can see why it's considered so offensive. They should be ashamed. Thanks for informing me as we'll.
