The thing that I don't like about this team is that there are too many players in the SO class. In 3 years, Kent or whoever the coach is will have to have another rebuilding year like the one we just have and may have again this year. Kent has to find a way to balance the classes out so that he only has to replace about 3-4 players a year instead of whole rotation's worth of players. He could start to balance the classes out if he could get 1-2 players to possibly redshirt and/or transfer. I would rather have his try redshirting someone before anyone transfers out.
I think Kent should have redshirted Wiley or Williams since they stood more of a chance of benefiting from an extra year. Williams, IMO, would have been the best candidate since he wasn't 100% even before the first game and had to continually comeback from minor injuries and suspension during the season. His time was wasted this past year. I still think that we could see Williams redshirted this year still since there is plenty of depth at SF so that Kent could break up the classes better and still not miss anything.

I agree about the unbalanced classes....
but what is the solution really? We try to get guys every year to fill out the scholarship limit and have had some guys leave early (Rid) and some guys not work out (Johnson). Everyone thought Hairston would be gone early. Dunigan will probably leave early, Wilson too maybe. It sucks that we rebuild in cycles, but would you rather have a 2 year JC player than Jacob who has three years left. Likewise, would you have wanted last years class to be more JC stacked?

I think that you can sometimes leave scholarships unfilled since if you watch most team play, they only play about 9-10 deep with the remaining 3 scholarship players either getting only mop-up duty or sitting out due to injury or RS status. A team can get by with only 11-12 players. Ernie has a tendency though to use all of his players which is both good and bad. It's good since players can stay fresh and you get them experience. The bad is you have trouble finding minutes for all the players and you can throw off a team's flow by constantly subbing players in and out.
