This quick lefty has good speed and quickness with the ball. Although thin and wiry, Vilarino is fearless and competes at all times. He pushes the ball in transition and can finish with speed to the rim with his left hand. He runs the offense in the half court and has a pass first mentality. A good athlete for his size that can penetrate and kick but has trouble finishing against the trees inside. He is a good decision maker and puts pressure on the defense by always probing and looking for an opportunity to create. Vilarino has a heavy left hand dribble that can slash to the rim when the play breaks down. He's an average shooter at best that is most affective from about 15-17 feet.

Travel Team: Texas Select...Averaged 19.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg and 4.0 apg as a senior...

But early Thursday morning, Vilarino was informed that he had been awarded his greatest individual accomplishment with a spot on the 2007-08 4A All-State team from the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

Doesn't need to be a John Wall, just somebody who can see the floor, play spectacular D, handle the ball, drive and dish effectively, with an occasional highlight reel posterizing thrown in.

The coaches can surely teach him to shoot threes...

He (Moore) has the ideal size, skill and savvy to play at the highest level of college basketball. He is a true point guard (hard to come by nowadays) as he sets up his teammates first before looking for his own shot. He's an excellent open court passer, though he does have a tendency for the spectacular, and can create off the dribble equally as well (solid crossover move). His jump shot is solid out to the stripe as well. In addition, he displays the leadership skills of a point guard and is a tough competitor.

What makes Moore more intriguing than most point guards is his "will" to win. He isn't afraid to take the "big" shot or take over a game. He has excellent leadership skills; which should help him mature into a solid division-one point guard. Overall, Moore needs to continue to hone his point guard skills and tone his game down a tad as he has a tendency to play too fast at times.


Moore originally signed with Fresno State, then attended Brewster Academy when FSU coach Steve Cleveland refused to grant a release from his LOI. Consequently, Moore will have a full five years of eligibility.

According to this article dated in 2006, he had a bunch of high majors including Kentucky looking at this kid. He even said that he had a 3.5 GPA so it sounds like grades were not an issue.

Also, dont be fooled by Armstead's points per game average (7.0) He averaged 31 pts a game in high school and was shooting about 53% from three for the year in Juco(although only taking 71 three's) He is averaging 4.8 assists to 1.5 turnovers per game.

Might be worth pursuing, if what is on that 'True Blue' forum is accurate.
