Justin Brown WR

Post by jhopduck »

We are still in the running but out of his top 3 really.
May visit which could be huge. BC and Penn State are the likely places here.
He mentions Ryan Day from BC being his recruiter right now, and he was really disappointed the coach got fired.
Suddenly I don't find this position as much of a need anymore. :)

Ah, what the heck... Let's pile 'em up and convert all the guys with 'stone hands to dbs... Any body who drops the ball more than 1/2 the time ought to be able to keep somebody elase from catching the ball, as well  !

It sort of feels weird that after all of these months of unease about the future of the position that things may be close to settled. Hopefully, LOI day doesn't dissapoint and we keep DJ, Gaines, Tuinei, and maybe Hall.

I love the crazy devil emoticon!!!

I agree with this statement, if Diante sticks with the Ducks. It would be nice to land a stud high school receiver in this recruiting class. James Johnson and Wheaton could become good receivers, and I would like for both of them to become Ducks, but I don't think their potential is on the same level as Diante. The same goes for Hall, in my opinion.

All the practice reports from the AA game seemed as though Hall was outperforming McNeal all week long.
Unfortunately Brown, Wheaton, Johnson, Jackson were not present to compare.

Yeah, I have never been all that high on McNeal personally. I don't think he will ever be a bigtime difference maker, but we shall see.

I have seen some of Hall's videos (not sure how old they were), and he looks pretty slow for a wide receiver. He is a big guy so I would imagine he would be a pretty good blocker, but he definitely isn't like Jaison Williams in terms of speed for a big receiver. Diante will be a much better player than Hall over the long haul, in my opinion.

No problem briar. Just keep in mind these are only my observations and I am not a college coach that gets paid to evaluate these players for a living. :)

After rereading my post above, it comes across like I am more down on Hall than I actually am. Just to clarify, I think he can be a good college receiver and would be very happy for the Ducks to get him. In my opinion, he is just more of a really good complimentary receiver than a #1 guy. He actually has good speed for a guy his size when he is running relatively straight, but his quickness and ability to change directions is a bit questionable. Of course, the same can be said for most big receivers like him. Only future NFL freaks are that size yet still have the quickness and agility of smaller players.

On the other hand, I feel Diante has a chance to become that #1 type receiver for the Ducks down the road. He isn't the fastest receiver in the world, but he has enough speed, quickness and agility to go along with his good size and strength to consistently get open and cause some major damage knifing through a defense once he catches it.

I have to say that I am not sure I agree with you. I respect your opinion very much but I think that Hall will come in and have a chance to put up gigantic #'s. I think Diante has special ability and will probably be a star where ever he ends up but I think Hall's upside is every bit that of Diante. Once again like my brother before me, I am not a coach and don't get paid to evaluate talent so take it for what it's worth. (about as much as the change in your right pocket)

None of us are coaches (D1 level) but it's great to hear peoples opinions on players you've never seen play...I appreciate all opinions because I'm never shy to give mine! :P

Hall looked pretty fast i the free AA videos. He was the only one who would catch anything on Harris and that was just because of his imposing physical frame.
