If this team was performing in PAC-10 play at the level they did for much of Dick Harter's tenure, the Duck's would be at least on the cusp of the Big Dance every season (Understand that when Harter was here, no more than 2 teams got in, and the only lock for a bid was the conference champ... At least one time, the Ducks were passed over for the Dance when they were 2nd and had beaten the conference champs.)... No worse than a lock for the NIT in the down years is not at all unreasonable.

Wounded, I would not really argue if Kent should be considered better or worse than Harter. I feel that both have been positive for the University. However, I feel the comparison would be closer than you think.

Harter's best two conference records/season: 10-4 and 9-5
worst two : 0-14 (first season) and 6-8 (last season)
overall : 48-50


Kent's best two : 14-4 and 13-5
worst : 2-16 and 5-13
overall in conference L 102-114


NOW: If you have to compare Kent to one of the best UO coaches of all time (Harter), then he can't be that bad can he?

I am happy that Kent is back for another year, but I do feel he has to be competetive this next yr (1-5th place) to keep a hold of his position. Anything close to that and I would be happy to have him continue as the coach. I give HUGE credit to Kent for graduating many of his players and for recruiting players that I am happy to root for. For the most part, his kids have had a positive impact on the UO student body. Of course,there are a few ducks at Alton Baker that may feel differently but compare those issues with others in the pac10. Add the fact that he is an alum, is very loyal to the UO, is a BIG TIME promoter of UO, and even has children that have been great additions to our university (cheer squad x2, 3 sport letter winner) and that is a pretty solid resume.

But still, just for fun, I am waiting for a few of you to post your expectations of where Kent's teams rank with others in the P10 and if you feel his place in the ranking is FAR away from your expectations. Go ahead, take a shot.

Well I could give an approximate win/loss record, but I don't think that's necessarily a good way to measure a good season. So what makes a season good? Looking like a "real" basketball team, improving over the course of a season, getting the most out of your players, coaches making adjustments, etc. Under Kent, Oregon has only had a few seasons like that.

Love kent or hate him, we have him.

But back to Brooks. This kid is on fire! That jacket and bow tie was the talk of espn the other day and I loved it. This guy could be the first duck in a long time to have a good carrer in the nba. We have had a lot of players recently drafted and get some playing time. Luke Rid comes to mind, but I dont think he has had the impact on his team that brooks is having now. Just my thoughts.

Brooks played just as good today. Shot a high percentage, and did a good job leading the Rockets.

I hope Houston beats LA.. I can't handle the Lakers.
