Re: NBA/Blazers Off-Season
blazers absolutely improved, and boom nailed it. weren't we the 8th seed before the starters ran out of gas and the 13-game slide began? it's not like we're the kings, who were out of contention by december of last year. this team was right there, even with their defensive deficiencies, before our historically inept bench took its toll.
seriously:
nolan smith, second year/awful
will barton, rookie/not awful, but in no way prepared to help this team
luke babbitt, awful
victor claver, rookie/awful
meyers leonard, rookie/awful for well over half the season
that was the cavalry stotts had to call on for the majority of the season. as such, the starters about killed themselves.

Any one know if the summer league games will be televised? The Blazers will have 9 players from their roster on the team, so they should be fun to watch.

I think I read that Comcast will have some but they won't be live. NBA tv I think will have 2 live.RanDux wrote:Any one know if the summer league games will be televised? The Blazers will have 9 players from their roster on the team, so they should be fun to watch.

Re: NBA/Blazers Off-Season
When you look at the bench last year, Smith, Leonard, Claver, Freeland, Williams, Maynor, Babbitt, Barton, Pavlovic...it really is shocking that they won as many games as they did. Several of those guys don't even belong in the NBA. I think people are underestimating what having a decent bench is going to do for this team. Portland picks up not only a serviceable center in Lopez, but also some guys that could actually blossom into good players. Robinson, Wright, McCollum...these guys are legit rotation players, as well as great stock for possible trades. Leonard, Crabbe and Barton will make good projects as well. I think the blazers just went several rungs up the ladder. They will probably lose some games at first, but I think they will be much improved by the second half of the season. I'm really liking Olshey's approach so far.

The last couple years comcast sportsnet has shown all summer league games live, so hopefully they will this year too.

I like what they have done so far. Let's see how the rest of the off season goes.

Yeah, a pretty productive offseason, I still think we fail to make playoffs though.

Come on now, is the 8th seed really that much to hope for?UOducksTK1 wrote:Yeah, a pretty productive offseason, I still think we fail to make playoffs though.

Is it really that important to get the 8th seed, when next year's draft is so deep?

I like what Portland has done to add depth with the exception of Lopez. I would've liked to see them make a trade to get a better center. I think if they put the right pieces together Monroe could've been had from Detroit

Re: NBA/Blazers Off-Season
nothing short of aldridge himself would have motivated detroit to move monroe. the pistons desperately want monroe and drummond to co-exist and play them together.squintsdd wrote:I like what Portland has done to add depth with the exception of Lopez.
